In this paper, the applicability of the elastic recovery (resilience) experiment for asphalt-rubber (AR) binders has been quantitatively assessed. The mechanical model, based on the viscoelastic constitutive relation and particle inclusion theory, was developed. The interfacial detachment between crumb rubber (CR) particles and asphalt caused by stress concentration was analyzed with Weibull statistical equations. Based on the road roughness excitation, the vehicle-road coupling vibration model was established to analyze the impact of vehicle loading on road surface deformation. AR binders with different CR particle sizes were assessed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging and prepared for testing the elastic recovery (resilience). The results showed that the greater internal stress caused by the longer stretch length of AR binders in the elastic recovery experiment was ten times higher than that obtained from the resilience experiment, leading to the interfacial detachment between asphalt and the CR particles. Hence, the elastic property of some of the CR particles with high modulus was not reflected, resulting in the test values being lower than actual values. With the reduction of CR particle size, the interfacial detachment was improved in the elastic recovery experiment due to intense material interchange and the enhancement of interfacial bond strength. The millimeter-scale compression deformation of the AR binder in the resilience experiment was closer to the actual deformation of the road surface. The experimental time of resilience (120 min) has been reported less than that for elastic recovery (200 min–230 min). This study shows that the resilience experiment has a significant advantage in assessing the elastic property of the AR binder.

Abstract The complexity of the pore shape in carbonate rocks causes the need for a special strategy to characterize carbonate reservoir. The more information used, the more accurate the reservoir characterization will be. Pore type analysis is the important study because it relates to the fluid flow properties. The elastic property modeling show a good match to the actual data. The results of the well log and petrophysical data analysis show that the gas zone is located at the upper side of Kujung I Formation. Based on rock physics modeling result, the possible pore type developing in the Kujung I Formation is reference pore with the dominance of the aspect ratio value of about 0.17-0.19. The carbonate layer containing hydrocarbons is characterized by low Lamda-Rho, Lamda/Mu values and a low Poisson ratio. Porous carbonate layer, characterized by a low Mu-Rho value. The slice results show that the gaseous area is located on the anticline. The zone that has good porosity indicated by low Mu-Rho. In the IN-3 well there are no hydrocarbons, this analysis is in accordance with the geological condition of the IN-3 well which is in a low area on the time structure map. The inversion results show a good match between CPEI against water saturation log and CPEI against porosity log.

In our study we develop a new expression for temperature dependence of thermal pressure for MgO and CaO crystal. A generally elastic property of solid depends on the strength of inter atomic forces of solid. So far our work has been resolute on thermal pressure is dependent of temperature and diverges it’s linearly in high temperature volume expansion ratio through the effect of temperature. This present method has been developed on the temperature dependence of thermal pressure for MgO and CaO crystal at atmospheric pressure and volume expansion ratio at high temperature. A neighboring data of Gruneisen parameter is found to be in close convention with theoretical and investigational confirmations the standing of present study.
