Visual quality assessment of The Bay Villas Resort, Tanjung Lesung Banten. The Bay Villas Resort is a recreational area located in Tanjung Lesung, Banten, and is equipped with facilities to stay overnight. The Bay Villas Resort has beautiful natural and visual resource potential. The beach is clean and beautiful, overlooking the Sunda Strait and leading to Mount Krakatau. The problem is that the existing visual potential has not been utilized optimally. This can be seen from the unavailability of facilities for outdoor activities that take advantage of this potential. This study uses qualitative methods with research instruments in the form ofobservation followed by visual potential assessment with assessment methods. Data analysis used interval classes which were then classified according to their visual quality. This study aims to identify the visual potential as the basis for the development of the landscape of The Bay Villas Resort according to the characteristics and visual quality. The results of the research in the form of landscape visual quality which are classified into high, medium, and low landscape visual qualities will be useful as a basis for the placement of facilities in further landscape development.

Abstract Purpose: To determine the efficacy of scleral buckling in eyes with stage 4A and 4B retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).Methods: Seven eyes of five premature infants underwent scleral buckling for stage 4 ROP in zone II. Five eyes had stage 4A ROP, and two eyes had stage 4B ROP. Six eyes had previous diode laser photocoagulation, and one eye had received an intravitreal ranibizumab injection. Scleral buckling was the procedure of choice due to lack of access to specialized pediatric vitrectomy instrumentation. Average age at surgery was 3.4 months. Postoperative anatomic retinal status, visual acuity outcome and refractive error were assessed. Results: The scleral buckle was removed on average 8 months after surgery. Retinal reattachment was achieved in all seven eyes. At final follow-up one eye had macular ectopia and disc dragging, one eye had a macular traction fold and two eyes had optic disc pallor. Average myopic error after buckle removal was -7.5 D.Conclusion: Scleral buckling can be performed safely and effectively in 4A and 4B stage ROP in critically-ill infants, when access to specialized pediatric vitrectomy instrumentation is limited. This surgical technique may provide adequate relief of vitreoretinal traction with improved visual potential.

Amblyopia: is patching outdated? Amblyopia is a reduced visual acuity resulting from insufficient visual stimulation during the first years of life. Standard treatment is occlusion therapy, in which the better eye is patched to stimulate the amblyopic eye and thereby improve vision. The disadvantages inherent to patches, like cost and discomfort, together with new insights on binocular dysfunction in amblyopia, have created a critical attitude towards this purely monocular approach. The search for new treatment strategies which can replace or be complementary to occlusion is therefore ongoing. Part-time occlusion appears to be a worthy alternative to traditional full-time occlusion. Pharmacological treatment with citicoline and levodopa or video games during patching can enhance the effect of occlusion, but are not yet routinely used due to potential side effects and/or insufficiently proven efficacy. The potential effect of video games on compliance is undoubtedly interesting however. ICL (implantable collamer lens) implantation and SMILE (small incision lenticule extraction) can be used to enhance optical correction and increase visual potential in high refractive errors. As a new treatment, the use of video games in binocular dichoptic therapy is discussed. Superiority over occlusion has not yet been demonstrated. Large-scale RCTs (randomized controlled trials) that distinguish between different forms of amblyopia, age and previous treatments, are necessary to further optimize guidelines for amblyopia treatment.

AimsTo evaluate visual acuity (VA) outcomes of cataract surgery, and factors associated with good visual outcomes, among a population with diabetes.MethodsParticipants with type 2 diabetes enrolled in The Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) study and ACCORD-eye substudy. 1136 eyes of 784 ACCORD participants receiving cataract surgery during follow-up (2001–2014) were included. Of these, 362 eyes had fundus photographs gradable for diabetic retinopathy. The main outcome measure was the achievement of postoperative VA of 20/40 or better.ResultsIn the sample of 1136 eyes, 762 eyes (67.1%) achieved good visual outcome of 20/40 or better. Factors predictive of good visual outcome were higher level of educational attainment (college vs some high school, OR 2.35 (95% CI 1.44 to 3.82)), bilateral cataract surgery (OR 1.55 (1.14 to 2.10)) and preoperative VA (20/20 or better vs worse than 20/200, OR 10.59 (4.07 to 27.54)). Factors not significantly associated (p>0.05) included age, sex, race, smoking, diabetes duration, blood pressure, lipid levels and haemoglobin A1C (HbA1C). In the subsample of 362 eyes, absence of diabetic retinopathy was associated with good visual outcome (OR 1.73 (1.02 to 2.94)).ConclusionAmong individuals with diabetes, two-thirds of eyes achieved good visual outcome after cataract surgery. Notable factors associated with visual outcome included preoperative VA and diabetic retinopathy, but not HbA1C, underscoring that while certain ocular measures may help evaluate visual potential, systemic parameters may not be as valuable. Sociodemographic factors might also be important considerations. Although the current visual prognosis after cataract surgery is usually favourable, certain factors still limit the visual potential in those with diabetes.

Bali is a tourist destination that is very popular in the country of Indonesia with a wealth of natural and cultural potential that is presented on this island of a thousand temples. One of the tourist objects in Bali, especially in Denpasar City, is the Kertalangu Cultural Village Tourism Object, which is located in the village of Kesiman Kertalangu. This tourism object offers local cultural potential and visual potential in the form of rice fields which can be an alternative tourism in the middle of conventional tourism development in Denpasar. However, the lack of attractiveness in this tourist attraction area has made visitors less enthusiastic about coming on a tour, so research is needed regarding the assessment of visual quality in this area as an effort to increase the attractiveness of traveling by optimizing the visual quality of the site. The purpose of this study was to examine the visual quality that can be an attraction in the Kertalangu Cultural Village. The methods used are VRAP and field surveys. The results provide some recommendations to develop landscape designs for Kertalangu Cultural Village based on the use of visuals and local cultural values.

Decoding art, understanding the stage fate of works of literature, expanding the boundaries of the content of the concept of “poetics”, rethinking the individual style of the writer is possible in different ways. One of them is the study of film poetics as a separate literary work, and the whole collection, the work of the writer in general. All this determines the relevance of the article. The study of the state of development of the problem testifies to the attention of scientists — representatives of various scientific schools of Ukraine (L. Gorbolis, S. Kyryliuk, N. Mocherniuk) — to aspects of intermediality of V. Stefanyk’s work. It emphasizes the relevance of the study. Recognition of the fact of non-accidental arrangement of V. Stefanyk’s samples in the collection “Blue Book” thanks to the research work of V. Yermak, determines the purpose of scientific research. It is outlining the notable features of cinema. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to study each element of the short stories in terms of visualization. For this purpose, it is necessary to use structural-semiotic and poetological methods. As the results of the analysis of each short story, several regularities are revealed. The writer not only introduces the character into the life context but also visualizes the scene (“Blue Book”, “Lost”, “In the Inn”). Defining artistic details and emotional state of the character are mostly presented in close-ups (“Taken out of the village”, “Autumn”, “Alone”). There are frames full of sounds and colors (“Blue Book”, “Pious”, “Katrusya”). The tempo of the frames is slowed down, due to which a visual image appears in the mind of the reader, which provokes the recipient to emotional work (“Taken out of the Village”). Each image has a cyclic construction, while the whole collection is evidence of the application of the poetics of seriality. The samples are interconnected emotionally, tonally, semantically (“Taken out of the Village”, “Lost”, “In the Inn”, “Les’ family”, “Mother’s Son”). The collection has an artistic unity due to common symbols, rich visual potential. Given the findings, there is a reason to believe that all literary works by V. Stefanyk deserve attention from the standpoint of visuality.
