PtSe2 as a novel TMDCs material is used to modify the traditional SPR biosensors to improve the performance. On this basis, this research proposes a metal-Si-metal waveguide structure to further improve the performance of the biosensor. In this study, we not only studied the effects of waveguide structures containing different metals on the performance of biosensor, but also discussed the performance change of the biosensor with the change of PtSe2 thickness. After the final optimization, a BK7-Au-Si-Au-PtSe2 (2 nm) biosensor structure achieved the highest sensitivity of 193.8°/RIU. This work provides a new development idea for the study of SPR biosensors with waveguide structures in the future.

This work reports on the fabrication and characterization of a K9 glass planar waveguide structure. The helium ion implantation was employed to form the waveguide on the K9 glass. The choices of the energy of 0.4 MeV and the dose of [Formula: see text] ions/cm2 were conducted by the SRIM 2013. The [Formula: see text]-line spectroscopy and the modal profile of the He[Formula: see text]-irradiated K9 glass waveguide were performed by the prism-coupling system and the end-face coupling technique at 0.6328 [Formula: see text]m, which suggests the capability of light propagation. The He[Formula: see text]-implanted K9 glass waveguides can serve as potential candidates for advanced integrated optoelectronic devices.

Abstract We consider the transverse electric (TE) plasmonic modes supported by black phosphorene (BP) in a parallel waveguide structure with left-handed material (LHM) instead of the conventional right-handed dielectric material. The existence condition of the TE BP surface plasmon polariton (SPP) is $\mathrm{Im}\sigma>0$. When an electric field is polarized along one of the two orthogonal crystal axes, the anisotropic symmetric and anti-symmetric plasmonic modes depend on the incident optical energy, the chemical potential, and the distance between two BP sheets can be observed. The symmetric mode has a more extensive effective refractive index, which possesses stronger field confinement. With a decreasing distance $d$ between two BP sheets, the coupling strength between the two separate BPSPP waves increases. When $d$ is small enough, the anti-symmetric mode root does not exist. LHMs can be used to realize a TE BPSPP mode to enhance the localization of the BPSPP, which is a practical method in optoelectronic devices based on black phosphorene.
