Development and content validation of an instrument for evaluating competencies in Pediatric Surgery Residency

Introduction: a specific instrument is needed to monitor the development of competencies in pediatric surgery during the residency. Objective: to develop an instrument in conformity with the “Milestone Project”, using the competencies determined by the Brazilian Association of Pediatric Surgery, for use in the Pediatric Surgery Residency in Brazil. Method: the research was developed in three stages: the development of the initial instrument, qualification with a focal group of experts, and instrument evaluation by Brazilian pediatric surgeons in order to validate and quantify the instrument’s acceptance. Result: The initial instrument was created with 4 competencies and 13 sub-competencies, each with 5 levels of assessment. Four experts performed the initial qualification, which resulted in 44 adaptations, and the instrument was finalized with 4 competencies subdivided into 10 sub-competencies, each with 5 levels of assessment. Subsequently, the instrument was evaluated by the Brazilian Pediatric Surgery Group and the Brazilian Pediatric Urology Group. There were 40 expert responses, with a total of 2394 positive responses from the 50 assessment items. The instrument had a general acceptance of 91.2%, being considered applicable (96.7%), reproducible (93.3), relevant to the covered topics (96%), technically (93.6%) and theoretically appropriate (93.3%), reliable (85.5%), and dependable (79.8%). Conclusion: an instrument was developed to assist in the assessment of competencies developed during residency in pediatric surgery in conformity with the Milestone Project. This instrument has been validated by experts and considered applicable, reproducible, relevant, technically and theoretically adequate, reliable and dependable.

Proposta de implantação da escala de avaliação de risco para o desenvolvimento de lesões decorrentes do posicionamento cirúrgico (ELPO) - relato de experiência

Este estudo teve como objetivo relatar a experiência de uma proposta de implantação da escala de avaliação de risco para o desenvolvimento de lesões decorrentes do posicionamento cirúrgico (ELPO). Tratou-se de estudo descritivo, do tipo relato de experiência, realizado com 49 profissionais (44 técnicos de enfermagem e 5 enfermeiros) do Centro Cirúrgico de um Hospital Universitário, localizado no interior de São Paulo. A proposta foi realizada em 3 etapas: avaliar o conhecimento dos profissionais sobre a ELPO; oficinas para capacitação e apresentação do instrumento proposto; avaliação referente ao instrumento proposto. Os resultados demonstraram ausência de conhecimento sobre a ELPO; interesse da maior parte dos profissionais, vontade de apreender e de mudar atitudes e conceitos; 100% referiram não haver necessidade de alteração do instrumento e que o mesmo é importante e possível de ser aplicado. Logo, é fundamental o conhecimento sobre a importância do posicionamento cirúrgico, visando a prevenção de complicações.Descritores: Segurança do Paciente, Enfermagem de Centro Cirúrgico, Posicionamento do Paciente. Proposal for the implementation of the risk assessment scale for the development of injuries arising from the surgical positioning - experience reportAbstract: The purpose of this study was to report the experience of a proposal to implement the risk assessment scale for the development of lesions resulting from surgical positioning (ELPO). This was a descriptive, experience-based study of 49 professionals (44 nursing technicians and 5 nurses) from the Surgical Center of a University Hospital, located in the interior of São Paulo. The proposal was carried out in three stages: to evaluate the professionals' knowledge about ELPO; workshops for training and presentation of the proposed instrument; evaluation of the proposed instrument. The results demonstrated lack of knowledge about ELPO; interest of most professionals, willingness to learn and change attitudes and concepts; 100% stated that there is no need to change the instrument and that it is important and possible to be applied. Los resultados demostraron la ausencia de conocimiento sobre la ELPO; interés de la mayoría de los profesionales, voluntad de aprehender y de cambiar actitudes y conceptos; El 100% indicó que no había necesidad de modificar el instrumento y que es importante y posible aplicarlo. VALIDITY OF INSTRUMENTS AS MEASURING INSTRUMENT EVALUATION PROGRAM ON THE JOB TRAINING STUDENTS SMK NEGERI 1 CARIU BOGOR REGENCY

This research is part of the preparation before evaluating On the Job Training program. The goal is to validate the instrument before used as a raw instrument to obtain field data. This research is carried out with quantitative approach. The data is collected by using questionnaire instruments to evaluate the impact of evaluation on the job training program at the behavior, outcome levels, and results. The instrument is tested on 30 respondents, namely Honda Putra Merdeka Cibubur, Honda Lestari Motor Cariu and Honda Citra Indah Jonggol. The test validity of the instrument using the product moment correlation formula. The results of the study show not all tested instruments are valid. Out of 35 instruments tested, 4 items of instruments are invalid. The instrument is in the dimensions of precision and work accuracy, increase in company revenue, and the level of curiosity at work. The result of the instrument validity concludes that the instrument that can be used to evaluate the on the job training program is as many as 31 items with the reliability value that can be received in a very good category of 0.928.
