Twenty percent of global electricity supplied to the buildings is used for preventing air temperature increase; its consumption for this prevention will triple by 2050 up to China’s present needs. Heat removed from the thermal power plants may drive cold generation in the absorption devices where mass and heat transfer are two-phase phenomena; hence liquid film break-up into the rivulets is extensively investigated, which needs knowledge of the velocity profiles. Laminar flow in a pipe is used in the preliminary study, velocity profile of developed flow is used as a benchmark. The study account writes the applied apparatus with their calibration procedure, and the uncertainty estimation algorithm. The calibration regression line with the slope close to one and a high Pearson’s coefficient value is the final outcome. Therefore, the apparatus may be applied in the principal research.

Abstract Objectives Measurement uncertainty is described as a magnitude indicates the distribution of the measurement results. AACB Guideline suggests that bias should not be included in the uncertainty calculation contrary to Nordtest Guideline. The aim of the study is to calculate the uncertainty values of certain complete blood count (CBC) parameters and evaluate the contribution of bias. Methods This retrospective study was performed with the quality control data of January–December 2017 of two different CBC autoanalyser models (Beckman Coulter LH780 and DXH800). Measurement uncertainties were calculated according to AACB and Nordtest Guidelines. Imprecision, i.e. measurement uncertainty, varies with concentration. Imprecision values of user manuals, as performance characteristics of autoanalyzers, were used for assessment. Results User manuals imprecision values of different levels of platelets are between 3.3 and 14%. As the concentrations of platelets decrease, imprecision is observed to increase. This is expected to be parallel with measurement uncertainty. Contrary to user manuals, uncertainty values of AACB found to be so close to each other (between 3.41% and 4.80%), regardless of concentration level. However Nordtest guideline is more compatible with user manuals (between 6.97% and 15.35%). Conclusions When evaluated with the performance expectations, bias should be used in measurement uncertainty. Calculation of uncertainty for different concentration level is also important.

Low voltage LI measurement with recurrent surge generator and oscilloscope is a method used for investigatingLI distribution in transformer windings or in model prototypes for various conditions. In the paper, the procedure for measurement uncertainty estimation of characteristic voltage and time quantities is given. The procedure is similar to the procedure given in the IEC 60076-2 standard for high voltage testing, but it is fully adapted to low voltage measurement with recurrent generator and oscilloscope. For the purpose of reducing the measurement uncertainties and the measurement time, a new procedure is proposed.

A comparative analysis of the measurement uncertainty estimation result is carried out. The results are obtained by GUM method described in the Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement, as well as by Monte-Carlo method recommended in Supplement 1 to the Guide. Examples of calculations of uncertainty of relative error for electromagnetic flow meters calibration by two methods are given. The features of application, advantages and disadvantages of these methods are described.

The minimum parameters of identity and quality of butters in Brazil are governed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. From them it is possible to carry out the performance verification of the methodologies to guarantee the results reliability. Thus, the objective of this study was to analyze the performance of the method of determination of NaCl in butter, based on ISO 1738:2004, evaluating accuracy, precision and the limit of quantification (LOQ). The precision was obtained since the coefficients of variation found in the tests were lower than the Horwitz value. The accuracy was approved as a consequence of the confirmation of the proficiency having as provider the FAPAS. The LOQ of 0.41g of NaCl/100g of butter was established by evaluating the accuracy and the recovery in a NaCl content determination test, using a solution prepared with Certified Reference Material. To assure quality, the uncertainty associated with the NaCl measurement was also estimated, through the evaluation of the possible sources of uncertainty, among which were: weighing, analyzer, glassware and the reagent purity, with a measurement uncertainty of 0.03g NaCl/100g of sample. Finally, it was verified the conformity of the NaCl content in commercial samples according to the Brazilian legislation.
