In the radiocommunication area, we may observe a rapid growth of new technology, such as 5G. Moreover, all the newly introduced radio interfaces, e.g., narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), are strongly dependent on the software. Hence, the radiocommunication software development and optimization, as well as the 3GPP technical specification, should be introduced at the academic level of education. In this paper, a software-defined NB-IoT uplink framework in the field of design is presented, as well as its realization and potential use cases. The framework may be used as an academic tool for developing, investigating, and optimizing the digital transmitter paths. The proposed realization is focused on the key elements in the physical layer of the NB-IoT interface used in the sensor devices. Furthermore, the paper also highlights the need of the data processing optimization to minimize the power consumption and usage of the resources of the NB-IoT node during transmitting gathered telemetric data.

The application of optimization techniques to improve the performance of polymer processing technologies is of great practical consequence, since it may result in significant savings of materials and energy resources, assist recycling schemes and generate products with better properties. The present review aims at identifying and discussing the most important characteristics of polymer processing optimization problems in terms of the nature of the objective function, optimization algorithm, and process modelling approach that is used to evaluate the solutions and the parameters to optimize. Taking into account the research efforts developed so far, it is shown that several optimization methodologies can be applied to polymer processing with good results, without demanding important computational requirements. Also, within the field of artificial intelligence, several approaches can be reach significant success. The first part of this review demonstrated the advantages of the optimization approach in polymer processing, discussed some concepts on multi-objective optimization and reported the application of optimization methodologies in single and twin screw extruders, extrusion dies and calibrators. This second part focus on injection molding, blow molding and thermoforming technologies.

In educational institutions, E-learning has been known as a successful technology for enhancing performance, concentration, and thus providing higher academic success. Nevertheless, the conventional system for executing research work and selecting courses is a time-consuming and unexciting practice, that not only directly impacts the students ’ academic achievement but also impacts the learning experience of students. In addition to that, there is an enormous number of various kinds of data in the E-Learning domain both structured and unstructured, and the academic establishments attempt to manage and understand big complicated data sets. To fix this problem, this paper proposes a model of an E-learning recommendation system that will suggest and encourage the learner in choosing the courses according to their needs. This system used big data tools such as Hadoop and Spark to enhance data collection, storage, analysis, processing, optimization, and visualization, furthermore based on cloud computing infrastructure and especially Google cloud services.

Optimizing the operating factors in edible oil extraction requires a statistical technique such as a response surface methodology for evaluating their effects on the responses. The examined input factors in this study were the diameter of pressing vessel, VD (60, 80, and 100 mm), temperature, TPR (40, 60, and 80 °C), and heating time, HTM (30, 60 and 90 min). The combination of these factors generated 17 experimental runs where the mass of oil, oil yield, oil extraction efficiency, and deformation energy were calculated. Based on the response surface regression analysis, the combination of the optimized factors was VD: 100 (+1) mm; TPR: 80 °C (+1) and HTM: 60 (0) min); VD: 60 (−1) mm; TPR: 80 °C (+1) and HTM: 75 (+0.5) min and VD: 100 (+1) mm; TPR: 80 °C (+1) and HTM: 90 (+1). The absorbance and transmittance values significantly (p < 0.05) correlated with the wavelength and temperature, but they did not correlate significantly (p > 0.05) with heating time. The peroxide value did not correlate significantly with temperature, however, it correlated significantly with heating time. Neither the acid value nor the free fatty acid value correlated with both temperature and heating time. The findings of the present study are part of our continuing research on oilseeds’ processing optimization parameters.
