The purpose of this study was to determine the reproduction of Snakehead fish (Channa striata Bloch, 1793) in the waters of the Merauke district wasur swamp. The data analysis used was the sex ratio, the level of gonad maturity, and the first size of gonad maturity. The results showed that the sex ratio of male and female snakehead fish in October and November at stations I and II tended to be balanced, while in September the sex ratio of snakehead fish at station I was balanced and at station II was not balanced. The maturity level of snakehead fish gonads at TKG III in September was around 35.48%, in October 28.57% and 15.38% in November. The size of the first time the gonads were ripe, the results showed that the first time the fish were ripe, the gonads were 190 mm long and weighing 50.3 g.

Over the past 50 years, the complete histological study of carp fish gonads was first carried out at Zaporozhian Reservoir. In conditions of environmental transformation of the reservoir the regularities of oogenesis and gonadogenesis, passing sexual cycles were found and the ecology of spawning carp fish was investigated. The adaptive potential of the carp fish reproductive systems, which is expressed through the asynchrony of reproductive products development as well as the functional peculiarities of the fish spawning process, was brought to light. Both environmental assessment and faunal analysis of biodiversity and distribution of young fish of Zaporozhian Reservoir were carried out. The growth and development of the fish larvae dwelling within the industrial agglomerations of Dnipropetrovsk city are found to be under anthropogenic influence. The efficiency of the use of artificial spawning nests for the carp fish spawning was studied, and practical recommendations for their installation and operation in the waters of the reservoir were elaborated.

The study is intended as an attempt domestication through climbing perch spawning in the container cultivation. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Wetlands Program University Faculty of Fisheries Aquaculture Lambung Mangkurat. Three main points in support of the spawning success of fish, namely: gonadal development, ovulation and spawning. Naturally development climbing perch fish gonads occurred in the early dry season to peak season and at the beginning of the rainy season or during the rainy season, spawning occurred. This natural state is trying to be adopted in the cultivation of container, with fashting for 1, 2 and 3 days with water levels, 10, 15 and 20 cm. The result is a latent time of 11.7 hours to 39 hours, fecundity between 5310 to 7376 grains, egg diameter 0.5 to 0.8 mm, the degree of fertilization between 88.2 to 93.2 percent and the degree of hatching between 87, 0 to 91.6 percent.

AbstractThe putative biological effects of the toxic organic pollutants polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) and the dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (DLPCBs) in the sediments of Masan Bay, Korea, on the gonad of Limanda yokohamae were investigated using proteomic and bioinformatic analyses. The results demonstrated that 11 protein spots from the bay site, Duckdong, were statistically different from the reference site Gaduck Island. We identified 20 proteins from the 11 altered protein spots and these were found to be involved in multi-cellular functions as previously demonstrated in a variety of species. The concentrations of toxic equivalents of PCDD/Fs and DLPCBs in the sediments of Masan Bay were approximately twenty six-fold higher than those from Gaduck Island. These findings indicate that the organic contaminants in the sediments of Masan Bay may have contributed to the change in the phenotypes of fish gonads.
