Significance The country has abundant renewable energy resources and substantial potential for green energy exports, but development to date has been minimal. Domestic firms are focused on the gas sector and foreign investors have been deterred by a hostile business environment. However, Algiers has taken steps recently to incentivise investment. Impacts The lack of development to date means the country’s emissions reduction targets are at risk of being missed. The December tender is likely to attract more interest than previous efforts because of changes to foreign investment conditions. Competition from new developers may prompt greater interest from Algeria’s state energy companies, in part to ward off challenges.

Pursuant to the definition proposed by Eurostat, foreign direct investment takes place when a resident entity in one economy seeks to obtain a lasting interest in an enterprise resident in another economy. A lasting interest implies the existence of a long-term relationship between the direct investor and the enterprise, and an investor’s significant influence on the management of the enterprise. Foreign investors do not only exert impact on a given company’s board of directors but, importantly, provide production capital in privatized companies. Additionally, they equip them with both know-how on the performed economic activity and technical know-how. They send their specialists, who introduce international standards in daughter companies smoothly. In this paper, the author deals with the impact of a foreign investor on the development of Bank Pekao. A literature review is applied for this aim. It covers a detailed analysis of transaction documentation and post-audit statements of the Supreme Audit Office and delegations of the Ministry of State Treasury. Thanks to research, it can be assessed how UniCredito Italiano has positively influenced the operation of Polish bank after the acquisition of shares. Thereby, the results of this study contest popular opinion about exploitation of domestic employees by foreign companies.

The challenges of the contemporary world impose new economic logic and visions, such as the growing need for circular business models, instead of linear ones, which promote the concept of services instead of resources. The world is changing dynamically, but it seems that the national states’ models for resolving crises are relatively outdated. Nowadays, nation states control their economies relatively symbolically. They are dependent on global agreements, transnational capital, foreign investors, etc. The implementation of active policy in times of crisis implies an emphasis on the control, provision and management of strategic resources by the countries, modelling the main global processes. The article discusses specific forms and methods of global rivalry.

The Philippines is a global leader in business process outsourcing (BPO). Many foreign investors view the Philippines as a viable location for their call center operations due to the Filipinos' strength in English proficiency. This study focuses on inbound call center accounts that deal with a variety of call situations, ranging from information requests to difficult calls that require more time to handle, such as complaint calls. Since the goal of any business is customer satisfaction, this research aims to investigate how Filipino call center agents mitigate and reduce the liability and guilt towards customers. Results show that the 90 call center representatives have successfully produced 'perfect apologies' by providing all five strategies posited by Cohen et al. (1986) in most of their complaint calls. However, the sequence is distorted by emphasizing more on offering a repair. This leads to a recommendation that calls center training on apology be emphasized on building personal connections rather than a mechanical response to situations.

A necessary condition for the development of the economy is an increase in the investment activity of investors in the country, an increase in investment resources and their effective use. Therefore, the study of trends in the development of the investment market is relevant and of great practical importance. Specifically, investments form production potential on the latest scientific and technical basis and determine the competitive positions of states in world markets. The study of the formation of the investment market in Ukraine made it possible to form the following conclusions:  the total volume of foreign direct investment in Ukraine in 2020 amounted to $ 453 million. USA, which is 14 times less than in 2010;  the study of the geographical structure of foreign investment made it possible to determine that in 2020, 453 million dollars were invested in the Ukrainian economy by direct foreign investors from more than 76 countries of the world. US direct investment It should be noted that the main investing countries include Cyprus – 31.1 %, the Netherlands – 20.2 %, the UK – 6.1 %, Switzerland – 6.0 %, Germany – 4.6 %, Austria – 3.3 %;  analysis of the distribution of foreign direct investment in the context of sectors of the economy in Ukraine made it possible to note that the greatest interest among foreign investors in 2020 was aroused by industry - 180.35 million dollars. USA, that is, 39.8 %. The leading spheres of economic activity in terms of the development of direct investments in 2020 remain: wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 106.9 million dollars. The United States, accounting for 23.6 %; financial and insurance activities – $ 96.9 million, which is 21.4 %. Thus, Ukraine remains attractive for investments and is not aloof from world processes, is sufficiently integrated into the world economy and the violation of macrostability in foreign markets has its echo in Ukraine. Thus, the investment market is a rather complex phenomenon, with its own internal structural structure, which is sensitive to changes in the external environment. At the present stage, its construction is represented by the classification of structural and infrastructural elements, as well as by supervisory and control bodies, ensuring its functioning thanks to market mechanisms.
