Abstract Hancornia speciosa is the target of research on genetic diversity, ethnobotanical and medicinal studies. However, information on the genetic variability of populations associated with modeling the potential distribution in the state of Sergipe has not yet been performed. The objective of this study was to predict the potential occurrence of H. speciosa in areas of high use of their fruits. The maximum entropy method was used to detect the distribution patterns of H. speciosa in variable environments. The diversity of four natural populations, situated in areas of extractivist, was determined by ISSR molecular markers. The species occurs more densely in the coastal regions of Sergipe. The prediction of occurrence indicates that the species reduces areas of occurrence, mainly due to anthropic actions. It is suggested that the species needs public policies aimed at its conservation and the priority populations for conservation.

Lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus L.) is one of the important legume vegetables in Indonesia. However, genetic information for these plants is still minimalized, especially on Timor Island. This study aims to analyze the genetic diversity of lima beans from Timor Island based on ISSR molecular markers. A total of 4 accessions of lima beans were analyzed using 3 ISSR primers to produce 15 polymorphic bands with an average of 68.18% polymorphism. The cluster analysis results use the Unweighted Pair Group Methods using Arithmetic averages (UPGMA) method to create a dendrogram that produces two main clusters. There were plain seed and pattern seed group with a similarity coefficient of 0.52. These results indicated that the genetic variation of the lima beans from Timor Island was high. Moreover, the result provides a sutable method for evaluating the genetic diversity of lima beans using the ISSR marker and important information of future lima bean breeding programs.

Kinship and genetic diversity determination among six rose varieties from the Grandiflora group were carried out using ISSR thechnics. The studied varities were divided into 3 clades: I) ‘Lezginka’, ‘Queen Elizabeth’ and ‘Koralovy surpriz’ varieties; II) ‘Gurzuf’ and ‘Love’ varieties; III) ‘Komsomolsky ogonek’ variety formed a separate branch. This division into clades was confirmed by a statistical comparison of morphometric characters. On the basis of the obtained data, it can be concluded that the analysis using the selected primer group is well-suited for differentiation rose varieties into groups, which makes it possible, for one thing, to determine the genetic distance between varieties, and for another, to use these data in the future by certification of the varieties promising by resistance characters to the continental climate conditions.

ABSTRACT The evaluation of accessions in a germplasm bank is essential for determining the potential parents in conservation programs, especially for native trees. This study aimed to determine the genetic diversity among 68 Amburana cearensis genotypes from different locations in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Their genetic patterns were evaluated by Inter Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) molecular markers and genetic divergence was evaluated through multivariate analyses using different clustering methods. The optimization method used (Tocher) was in agreement with all the hierarchical models used, in which clustering of the genotypes occurred similarly, specifically for the accession BB116, which is an important genetic material to be preserved and studied. Among the various hierarchical methods applied, the Average Linkage method exhibited higher discrimination power, allowing identification of a larger number of divergent groups, thus implying wide genetic diversity among A. cearensis accessions.

Species identification is fundamentally important within the fields of conservation, biology, biogeography and ecology. Salvia species are herbaceous, biennial or annual, strongly aromatic. Inter-Simple sequence repeats (ISSR) molecular markers were used for evaluate genetic diversity and relationship analysis of 30 Salvia species. Ten selected ISSR primers amplified 116 loci, respectively, of which all were polymorphic. The obtained average polymorphism information content 0.39, average band informativeness 10.5 and the marker index 3.1 revealed high genetic diversity prevailing among Salvia accessions. The dendrogram was constructed based on ISSR separated the individuals into sub-clusters in accordance with their species. Our results indicated that ISSR markers can be used as a reliable and informative technique for evaluation of genetic diversity and relationships among Salvia species. The objectives of present study are: 1) can ISSR markers identify Salvia species, 2) what is the genetic of these taxa in Iran, and 3) to investigate the species inter-relationship?

AbstractHelichrysum oocephalum is a medicinal plant of the genus Helichrysum that have limited distribution in Iran. Local geographical populations may differ in their genetic content and form different gene pools. Therefore, we carried out population genetic investigation and morphological studies in five geographical populations of Helichrysum oocephalum by using ISSR molecular markers. AMOVA produced the significant genetic differences. The mean Nm value revealed some degree of gene flow among Helichrysum oocephalum 8. Molecular and morphological analysis indicated that we have 2 groups in the studied populations. The present findings may be of use in the conservation of this medicinal plant in Iran.
