Understanding the influence of fragmentation on the behavior of forest essential elements in different vegetation formations is fundamental for the definition of conservation strategies. In this study, the aim was to evaluate the influence of the edge environment on the phytosociological structure of a fragment of Open Ombrophylous Forest, in Rio Largo, Alagoas. Five transects of 10.0 x 100.0 m were subdivided into ten 10.0 x 10.0 m plots to collect the data. All tree individuals with Chest Height Circumference ≥ 15 cm were sampled, measured and later identified in the herbarium of the Institute of the Environment of Alagoas. For the analysis, the phytosociological parameters Shannon-Wiener diversity (H'), Pielou equability (J') were calculated after defined the successional classes and dispersion syndromes of the species sampled. The edge effect was analyzed by comparing the richness, diversity, equability and number of individuals in the interior and at the edge of the fragment, using the Venn diagram technique. There were 581 arboreal individuals, of which 434 were identified as belonging to 20 families, 24 genera and 30 morphospecies. Among the raised species, there were higher occurrences of early secondary (46.67%) and late (23.33%), as well as those of zoocoric dispersion (53.33%). The diversity was 2.89 nats/ind., and the Pielou (J') equability was 0.8497. The edge environment did not influence the establishment of species. This may have occurred due to the environmental characteristics of the open ombrophylous forest.

We consider recently developed Cohomological Field Theory (CohFT) soliton counting diagram technique for Khovanov (Kh) and Khovanov–Rozansky (KhR) invariants.[Formula: see text] Although, the expectation to obtain a new way for computing the invariants has not yet come true, we demonstrate that soliton counting technique can be totally formalized at an intermediate stage, at least in particular cases. We present the corresponding algorithm, based on the approach involving deformed [Formula: see text]-matrix and minimal positive division, developed previously in Ref. 3. We start from a detailed review of the minimal positive division approach, comparing it with other methods, including the rigorous mathematical treatment.4 Pieces of data obtained within our approach are presented in the Appendices.

We consider the piecewise flat spacetime and a simplicial analog of the Palatini form of the general relativity (GR) action where the discrete Christoffel symbols are given on the tetrahedra as variables that are independent of the metric. Excluding these variables with the help of the equations of motion gives exactly the Regge action. This paper continues our previous work. Now, we include the parity violation term and the analog of the Barbero–Immirzi parameter introduced in the orthogonal connection form of GR. We consider the path integral and the functional integration over the connection. The result of the latter (for certain limiting cases of some parameters) is compared with the earlier found result of the functional integration over the connection for the analogous orthogonal connection representation of Regge action. These results, mainly as some measures on the lengths/areas, are discussed for the possibility of the diagram technique where the perturbative diagrams for the Regge action calculated using the measure obtained are finite. This finiteness is due to these measures providing elementary lengths being mostly bounded and separated from zero, just as the finiteness of a theory on a lattice with an analogous probability distribution of spacings.

AbstractThe permittivity spectra ε_1( E ) and ε_2( E ) of ZnSe and CdTe crystals are calculated in the range of 10–25 eV using their experimental reflectance spectra and Kramers–Kronig integral relations. The spectra are decomposed into thirteen and twelve separate transition bands for ZnSe and CdTe, respectively, using the improved nonparametric combined Argand diagram technique. The main spectral parameters, including the maximum energies and halfwidths and oscillator strengths, are determined. The oscillator strengths are found to be within 0.1–1.4 for ZnSe and 0.2–0.7 for CdTe. The obtained ε_2( E ) bands are due to interband and exciton transitions with the involvement of cation core d bands of both crystals under consideration.
