This chapter provides a-state-of-art of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques applied to cognitive radio networks. Cognitive radio (CR) is an empowering innovation for various new opportunities, for example, spectrum sensing, access, markets, and self-organizing networks. Its target is to enable the system to exploit the available resources through self-learning and to adapt itself accordingly to the sensed environment. To understand this plethora of applications, CR researchers often make use of several types of AI techniques. By utilizing AI, the network system can immediately complete self-awareness learning, structure association, and scheduling several tasks. To help researchers obtain a healthier knowledge of AI techniques along with CR, this chapter presents several such implementations that have already been applied. Finally, the literature review of the best accomplishments in applying AI techniques to CRs is presented and classified according to the major techniques of artificial intelligence.

AbstractThe Chemical Structure Association Trust (CSA Trust) is an internationally-recognized, registered charity that promotes and supports the advancement of scientific discovery through the application of computer technologies in the management and analysis of chemical structure information. In support of its Charter, the Trust provides grants specifically to nurture young scientists, ages thirty-five or younger, who have demonstrated excellence in research related to the storage, retrieval, and analysis of chemical structures, reactions, and compounds. Since its inception in 1988, almost one hundred students and researchers worldwide have benefited from travel bursaries and the CSA Trust Grant Program to further their education and research work, but the organization has a rich history that predates the formalization of its charity status. Its roots were planted half a century ago in 1965, when the Chemical Notation Association (CNA) was formed in the United States. It has been an interesting journey from the CNA to the CSA Trust and I have been blessed to have been a part of it almost from the beginning, along with other members of the American Chemical Society’s Division of Chemical Information. In honor of the organization’s 50th Anniversary, I’d like to give a brief overview of its past and its present activities.

This study investigated the psychometric properties of the revised scale of conscientiousness of a clinical personality inventory (Inventário Dimensional Clínico da Personalidade, IDCP). One hundred and twenty participants (68 women; 56.7%) aged 18 to 53 years (mean = 22.58, standard deviation = 6.19) were recruited by convenience and answered the IDCP and the NEO Personality Inventory - Revised. The analysis of internal structure, association with external variables and reliability of the dimension under review confirmed its validity. The psychometric characteristics of the revised dimension seem to be more adequate than those of the original version and more focused on pathological functioning, which was expected and desirable.
