Meckels Diverticulum can present as umbilical cord infection which mimicking an umblical granuloma. A 1 month, old infant had presented with herniated bowel loops, following an ultrasound procedure. The purpose of the report is to highlight on variable presentation of Meckels Diverticulum in a suspected case of umblical granuloma.

Meckels diverticulum accounts for 2 to 3% of gastrointestinal tract malformations in children. It is a distal remnant of the incompletely obliterated omphalo mesenteric duct that occurs at 4 weeks gestation, and is located approximately 40 to 60 cm from the last ileal loop. In the majority of cases, its presentation is asymptomatic and discovery is incidental. The symptomatic form represents 4% and is rare in children, including bleeding, occlusion, inflammation and intermittent umbilical oozing. The symptomatic form is exceptional in newborns. This work is a descriptive study of the literature regarding reported cases of newborns diagnosed with symptomatic Meckels diverticulum either as a picture of intestinal obstruction or by spontaneous perforation of the DM The objective of our study is to describe the cases of newborns operated in emergency for symptomatic Meckels diverticulum and to evaluate the surgical management.

Meckels diverticulum is a rare congenital anomaly of gastrointestinal tract, seen in 2% of population. It was first described by Guilhemus Fabricus Hildonus in 1598. Meckels diverticulum is an anomaly derived from incomplete obliteration of omphalo-mesenteric duct. It is rarely seen in adults, with prevalence of male to female of 2:1. Complications associated with Meckels diverticulum are hemorrhage, inflammation and intestinal obstruction. We present to you a case of 17 year old male with unusual mechanism of small bowel obstruction due to Meckels diverticulum.

Meckel's diverticulum is the commonest congenital abnormality of the gastrointestinal tract. Hemorrhage obstruction and inammation are the three main categories of complications resulting from Meckel's diverticulum. Spontaneously perforation of Meckel's diverticulum is very rare and mimics acute appendicitis. We report a case of 65 year-old female, who presented since 2 days worsening abdominal pain predominantly in the right iliac fossa associated with high grade fever and nausea. On physical examination her abdomen revealed diffuse tenderness, more over the right iliac fossa and the hypogastric region with guarding in the right iliac fossa. A provisional diagnosis of appendicular perforation was made. Our patient had an emergency laparotomy, where a perforated Meckel's diverticulum and advanced peritonitis were discovered. A resection of ileum with meckels diverticulum with end to end anastomosis of ileal loops were performed. Heterotopic mucosa of diverticulitis was conrmed on histopathology. The patient made an uneventful recovery postoperatively . This case report is an interesting and unusual case of Meckel's diverticulum complications and highlights the importance of considering Meckel's diverticulum as a differential diagnosis in every patient presenting with acute abdomen.

Meckels diverticulum is a sac-like bulge of the wall of ileum formed in result of incomplete closure of the viteline duct that participates in nutrition of the embryo. Aim. To familiarize a wide community of colleagues with an interesting clinical case of a foreign body (a coin) in Meckels diverticulum. In the article, approaches to diagnostics and operative treatment of such patients are given. This clinical observation is of interest to abdominal surgeons from the point of view that Meckels diverticulum is most commonly identified by clinical symptoms present in diverticulitis, bleeding or perforating ulcer, in intestinal obstruction caused by formation of a node or of invagination. Conclusion. A situation in which a blunt-ended foreign body permitted to identify Meckels diverticulum, is described as casuistically rare.
