Beauveria bassiana can attack a variety of hosts and their virulence can vary at each host and location. Exploration of the diversity of hosts B. bassiana from local isolates needs to be done as initial information that can explain the ability of B. bassiana in infecting insects. Sampling locations were selected in three district, each district selected three stations and each station consisted of 10 plots. The location of sampling is determined by the purposive random sampling method. Each station was made a plot measuring 1m x 1m and distributed randomly. Every insect infected with B. bassiana was taken and taken to a laboratory for identification. The results showed that there were five insects that hosted B. bassiana, namely Nilaparvata lugens, Scotinophara coarctata, Leptocorisa oratorius, Nezara viridula and Paraeucosmetus pallicornis. The highest host diversity index was found in North Dumoga with a value of 1.47. The highest abundance index was found in N. lugens host in East Dumoga with a value of 43%. The highest density was found in the host N. lugens in Central Dumoga with a value of 1.93 ind / m2. There were indications of differences in virulence of the  B. bassiana local isolates that were influenced by the spesies of host and location Keywords: Beauveria bassiana, diversity,  Bolaang Mogondow Regency, diversity and abundance indices

The liquid smoke from pod shell of randu potentially serves as a botanical pesticide in rice farming and also provides an effective approach in controlling the rice ear bug (<em>Leptocorisa oratorius</em>). Also, the sample produces the maximum dominant compound as phenol (C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>5</sub>OH) to regulate these bugs. The research was conducted in Kaliwates district, Jember regency, between May-August 2018, using a non-factorial randomized block design with four treatments, that are control-no treatment, formulation 3, 6, and 9 ml.L<sup>-1</sup>, in six replications. Consequently, the samples of 3, 6, and 9 ml.L<sup>-1</sup> obtained a significant effect, in terms of pest control, attack intensity, empty grain percentage, and dry grain weight per sample. The result showed that the maximum and minimum attack intensity occurred in no treatment samples and formulation 9 ml.L<sup>-1</sup> treatments, with an average of 35.31 and 23.13%, respectively. Therefore, the liquid smoke of kapok tree fruit skin peels has been confirmed to effectively control the pest population of rice ear bugs.

Rice bug (Leptocorisa oracorius F) is one of the most dangerous pests for paddy commodities (Oryza sativa) in the world. The use of liquid smoke was popular among local farmers to control rice bug. A coconut shell is the main source for making liquid smoke. This research aims to analyse rice bugs' mortality and antifeedant activity when dipped with coconut shell liquid smoke. The liquid smoke's effectiveness was measured by dipping paddy (5 grams in weight) that is previously soaked with coconut shell liquid for 20 seconds. The liquid smoke was prepared in various concentrations, ranging from 0% as a control; 0.50%; 0.75%; 1%; 1.25% and 1,50%. Observations were made at 24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 144 and 168 hours. Data analysis was performed by one-way ANOVA test, using SPSS program followed by a 0.05 Tukey test to determine the significance of the rice bug pest mortality. The study resulted that the mortality values from low concentrations to high concentrations were 40%, 46.67%, 60%, 70%, and 80% over seven days. The antifeedant percentage of liquid smoke increased from low concentrations to high concentrations respectively were 10.14%, 15.15%, 31.03%, 46.15%, and 68.88% during seven days. The concentration of liquid smoke that has the highest mortality was 1.50%. In conclusion, 1.50% of liquid smoke showed the highest percentage of mortality and antifeedant activity with 80% and 68.88%, respectively. In the future, it is hoped to develop this model for commercial consumption and reduce reliance on chemicals to control rice bugs. The use of pesticides can do more harm than good, especially to the environmental system

Subak umalayu merupakan salah satu kawasan lahan pertanian di Kota Denpasar dimana masih terdapat beberapa masaalah yang dihadapi oleh petani salah satunya merupakan serangan hama walang sangit. Serangan hama walang sangit merupakan serangga yang menyerang bulir pada tanaman padi yang menjadi hampa, serangan hama walang sangit biasanya terjadi pada fase generative/masak susu, upaya yang sudah dilakukan oleh petani subak umalayu adalah penyemprotan pestisida tetapi serangan hama walang sangit terjadi kembali dikarenakan hama walang sangit hanya pergi sementara saat disemprot pestisida. Pengenalan teknologi LECOATRAP (Leptocorisa oratorius trap) diharapkan dapat mengendalian hama walang sangit yang berupa perangkap dan  diberikan atraktan sebagai pemikat alami dapat mengatasi permasalah yang dihadapi oleh petani subak Umalayu sehingga hasil produksi tanaman padi dapat terjaga.

Serangga hama walang sangit merupakan salah satu faktor kegagalan dalam budidaya tanaman padi. Untuk mencegah peningkatan serangan pada tanaman padi, dibutuhkan instektisida alami yang mampu meningkatkan mortalitas walang sangit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah meningkatkan mortalitas serangga hama walang sangit melalui pemberian agen hayati larutan Beuveria bassiana pada berbagai taraf konsentrasi. Larutan Beuveria bassiana disempotkan pada walang sangit di dalam sungkup jaring pada rumpun tanaman padi. Dosis yang diberikan antara ekstrak beuveria bassiana dengan air menggunakan perbandingan 2 ml/L, 5 ml/L, 8 ml/L, dan 10 ml/L. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dosis terbaik untuk pengendalian hama walang sangit pada tanaman  padi adalah 10 ml larutan beuveria bassiana per liter air. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari mortalitas walang sangit tertinggi yaitu 76,92 % selama 12 hari pengamatan. Pada dosis 10ml/L telah menunjukkan perubahan fisik pada serangga hama yang telah mati. Cendawan beuveria bassiana muncul di seluruh jaringan tubuh walang sangit yang telah mati. Pertumbuhan cendawan mulai tampak menyelimuti serangga hama yaitu hari ke 8 menggunakan dosis 8  ml/L air dan 10 ml/L air. Di samping itu, dosis yang menunjukkan mortalitas terendah pada walang sangit adalah 2 ml larutan beuveria bassiana per liter air. Mortalitas walang sangit pada dosis ini adalah 28,57 % selama 12 hari pengamatan. Kata Kunci: agen hayati, larutan beuveria bassiana, pengendalian hama, serangga hama walang sangit, tanaman padi

Rice ear bug (Leptocorisa oratorius Fabricius) is still classified as the top of five pests that cause the most losses in rice farming productivity. The attack causes the grain to become empty resulted in reducing the yield of grain up to 40% even to 100%. Betel plants (Genus Piper) are easy to grow and grown by almost all households in Indonesia. Ethnobotany showed that betel is used as one of the insect controllers. This research aimed to study the repellant activities of five species of Piper spp. and their phytochemical composition based on CG-MS chromatograms. Moreover, the active compounds were analyzed in potent plant. The repellant activities of chloroform and methanol extract of P. betle, P. aduncum, P. nigrum, P. longum, and P. crocatum were applied using modified olfactometer, while the phytochemical composition were analyzed using GC-MS. The compounds with insecticidal activity in the potent species were analyzed by the references. The results showed that chloroform extract of P. crocatum was the most potent extract. It contains 28 specific compounds which were not found in other species. Literature studies showed that compounds that had repellent activities are monoterpene and sesquiterpene groups.

Pemberdayaan  musuh alami hama seperti  parasitoid Ooencyrtus malayensis sebagai pengendali hayati walang sangit dapat meminimalisir penggunaan insektisida kimia dan  memiliki nilai positif yaitu mengendalikan hama pada stadia awal perkembangannya. Tujuan penelitian adalah: menentukan distribusi populasi parasitoid pada topografi Sumatera Barat yang berbeda, dan menentukan tingkat parasitisasi, dominansi dan mortalitas parasitoid tersebut. Pengambilan sampel telur walang sangit terparasit di lokasi padi sawah dengan metode stratifield sampling pada tiga ketinggian tempat yaitu: Sungai Sapih Kota Padang, Rendah (20 m dpl ), Tanjung Pati Kabupaten Limapuluh Kota, Sedang (500 m dpl), dan Kubang Putih Kabupaten Agam, Tinggi (975 m dpl). Sampel telur diamati di laboratorium untuk mengetahui telur yang terparasit oleh O. malayensis dan selanjutnya data dianalisis.  Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa distribusi parasitoid  O. malayensis lebih dominan pada lokasi lokasi dataran rendah selanjutnya dataran sedang sedangkan pada dataran tinggi tidak ditemukan.  Tingkat parasitisasi pada dataran rendah dan tinggi adalah 13% dan 6%. Sedangkan nilai mortalitas parasitoid O. malayensis pada dataran rendah dan tinggi adalah 17 % dan 33 %.  Dari penemuan ini disimpulkan bahwa parasitoid O. malayensis menyukai lokasi dengan ketinggian rendah dri permukaan laut dan dapat memparasitisasi telur walang sangit dengan tingkat serangan yang cukup tinggi.
