Ensuring work for people with disabilities today represents an important goal for democratic states and a continuous challenge for policy makers who should always aim to improve targeted placement services. Unfortunately, this goal, although regulated by specific laws, does not always find fertile ground in its applicability, sometimes increasing marginalization and discrimination. In this regard, the Covid-19 outbreak has brought out new forms of exclusion and new needs, increasing, in some cases, inequalities within workplaces. Therefore, starting from the scenario outlined by the pandemic, the paper aims to propose a reflection on the importance of work for people with disabilities, as a tool of self-empowerment that promotes inclusive processes, analyzing the legislative framework regarding access to work for vulnerable people and outlining possible future perspectives to promote inclusion within work places.

There is an increasing call for recovery-oriented services but few reviews have been undertaken regarding such interventions. This review aims to synthesize evidence on recovery services to improve the lives of adults living with severe mental illness. An integrative review methodology was used. We searched published literature from seven databases: Medline, EMBASE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus. Mixed-methods synthesis was used to analyse the data. Out of 40 included papers, 62.5% (25/40) used quantitative data, 32.5% used qualitative and 5% (2/40) used mixed methods. The participants in the included papers were mostly adults with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. This review identified three recovery-oriented services—integrated recovery services, individual placement services and recovery narrative photovoice and art making. The recovery-oriented services are effective in areas such as medication and treatment adherence, improving functionality, symptoms reduction, physical health and social behaviour, self-efficacy, economic empowerment, social inclusion and household integration. We conclude that mental health professionals are encouraged to implement the identified recovery services to improve the recovery goals of consumers.

Abstract Background: There is increasing call regarding recovery services, however, little review studies have been undertaken regarding such services. This integrative review aimed to identify and synthesize evidence on the usefulness of recovery services used to promote personal recovery among adults living with severe mental illness. Methods: A search of the published literature was conducted using: Medline, EMBASE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus. Mixed methods synthesis was used to analyse the data. The search was limited to papers published in English from January 2008 to January 2020. The review integrated both qualitative and quantitative data into a single synthesis. Results: Out of 40 included papers, 62.5 %( 25/40) used Quantitative data, 32.5% used Qualitative and 5 %( 2/40) used mixed methods. The review identified three recovery services such as integrated recovery model, vocational rehabilitation (Individual Placement Services), as well as recovery narrative photovoice and art-making services. The recovery services are useful in areas such as medication and treatment adherence, improvement in functioning, symptoms, physical health & social behaviour, self-efficacy, economic empowerment, social inclusion, household integration and access to support services. Conclusions: The evidence on recovery services focused largely on integrated rehabilitation and individual placement services, with a few studies implementing recovery narrative photovoice and art-making services. Mental health professionals are encouraged to implement the identified recovery services to improve the personal recovery goals of consumers.

This study aimed to explore the knowledge, awareness, and attitude of teachers regarding ASD and educating children with ASD. The research was conducted through a quantitative method utilizing a survey design in this study. Seventy-six teachers from seven special and twelve integrated schools from Kathmandu valley were selected through purposive sampling method. A Likert Scale with a 5-point survey instrument (questionnaire) was created and implemented. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed with descriptive statistics. The result of this study demonstrated that teachers of Nepal have the general idea of ASD but they don't possess in-depth knowledge regarding ASD. In this study, most of the teachers thought that students with ASD should be placed in a special education classroom rather than a general and inclusive classroom. Moreover, Nepalese teachers don’t think they are prepared to educate students with ASD in their classes and also claimed teachers need additional training, seminar and workshop concerning ASD. Furthermore, the teachers of Nepal have limited knowledge, awareness, understanding, attitudes, placement services, and teaching readiness towards ASD. However, they have the basic knowledge and understanding of ASD.

Abstract The long-run effects of active labor market policies can be quite different from their short-run effects. Negative short-run effects can be explained by the lock-in effect: During training, the job search efforts of unemployed individuals decrease or even seize, thereby causing an initial drop in the probability of employment for those attending training programs. We show that in the long run (4–7 years after the start of a program) all programs have a positive and long-lasting impact on the probability of employment. However, the cost-effectiveness over the period of 4–7 years depends crucially on the magnitude of the initial lock-in effect. For programs which increase the job search efforts of participants during the program, like placement services, no lock-in effect is observed. In the long run, only placement services and training courses are cost-effective.

The purpose of this study was to examine employment outcomes for adult vocational rehabilitation clients with deaf-blindness. Specifically, this study examined the relationship between case service provisions, and competitive employment outcomes for individuals with deaf-blindness. The sample was obtained from Rehabilitation Services Administration Case Service Report (RSA-911) data and included 135 cases of individuals with deaf-blindness identified as their primary or secondary disability and whose cases were closed during the fiscal year 2016. The independent variables consisted of vocational rehabilitation case service-related variables. The dependent variable was attainment of competitive employment. Results indicated that three vocational rehabilitation case service variables were associated with client outcomes for those with deaf-blindness seeking and obtaining competitive employment. Implications for improving employment outcomes for clients with deaf-blindness include supporting postsecondary educational attainment opportunities, providing job placement services, and providing job search-related services. Implications for services provided by vocational rehabilitation agencies are discussed.
