Objectives: The provision of high-quality personal protective equipment (PPE) has been a critical challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic. We evaluated an alternative strategy, mass deployment of a powered air-purifying respirator (PeRSo), in a large university hospital. Methods: We performed prospective user feedback via questionnaires sent to healthcare workers (HCWs) issued PeRSos, economic analysis, and evaluated the real-world impact. Results: Where paired responses were available, PeRSo was preferred over droplet precautions for comfort, patient response, overall experience, and subjective feeling of safety. For all responses, more participants reported the overall experience being rated “Very good” more frequently for PeRSo. The primary limitation identified was impairment of hearing. Economic simulation exercises revealed that the adoption of PeRSo within ICU is associated with net cost savings in the majority of scenarios and savings increased progressively with greater ITU occupancy. In evaluation during the second UK wave, over 3,600 respirators were deployed, all requested by staff, which were associated with a low staff absence relative to most comparator hospitals. Conclusions: Health services should consider a widespread implementation of powered reusable respirators as a safe and sustainable solution for the protection of HCWs as SARS-CoV-2 becomes an endemic viral illness.

In this paper, we describe the Skynet Robotic Telescope Network, a network of about 2 dozen small optical telescopes spanning four continents. For a prospective user of the network, we provide details on its operation and mention certain caveats potentially affecting observations taken under the control of Skynet software. The actual performance of the network is demonstrated by long-term observations of two blazars: OJ 49 and 3C 279. We show their photometric light curves acquired with a subset of Skynet telescopes in the 2018/19 observing seasons. Preliminary results of the analysis of the variability of these two targets are given, including the quantitative properties of light variations and the periods of possible Quasi Periodic Oscillations (QPOs) found in the seasonal light curves.

Abstract: This research aims to develop educational bibliographic media "Scars Make You Strong" to Increase Self-Esteem of children in Pondok Tahfidz Quran LAZNAS Nurul Hayat Malang. This study was developed to help facilitate counseling teachers in providing group guidance interventions using bibli education techniques. The scope of this research is the bibliographic media of the story book "Scars Make You Strong" to increase the self-esteem of the adolescent children. This study uses the model Research and Development (R&D) developed by Borg and Gall (1983) with the following steps: data collection, planning, product development, testing (BK material expert & media expert), revision of the results of expert testing and candidate testing users, revised trial results, and the final product. Expert testing and field testing of prospective users were analyzed using quantitative data analysis using the formula average (mean) and qualitative data analysis. The validity index of expert and prospective user tests shows high criteria and meets acceptability, namely usability, accuracy, convenience, and attractiveness, so that the product is feasible and can be given to prospective users of story books, namely children in the cottage, and guidebooks for use for counseling teachers / guidance teachers.

Abstrak: The aim of this research is to produce a sociodrama guidebook to improve interpersonal intelligence of SMP Negeri 1 Ngoro students. The method used is research and development which adapts Borg and Gall's development model. This development model consists of five steps to the product revision stage after an assessment is carried out by 1 material expert test, 1 media expert test, and 1 prospective user test (counselor). The data collection technique was carried out by interviewing with 1 counselor and distributing an inventory of interpersonal intelligence to 32 students. The data analysis used was quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The results of the evaluation of the material expert test got an average total of 3.7, the media expert test got an average total of 3.9 and the prospective user test (counselor) got an average score of 3.9. Based on the expert's judgment that the manual is suitable for use. Purpose: Major aim of the work was to formulate 2-parameters models of the cavitation erosion process and to bring about the particular methods for prediction of its performance with due calculation formulas. Design/methodology/approach: Phenomenological model of the erosion supplemented with functional relationships between calculation parameters and the strength parameters stand for the foundations of the method. Having assumed the probabilistic nature of the process and fatigue regime of the material destruction, the volume loss in time has been determined as proportional to the integral of the appropriate probability function. Correlations between parameters have been derived by adjusting the computed erosion curves to the experimental ones for the vast diversity of the cases. Findings: Two different formulas for the volume loss of the material in time under cavitation loading have been derived. Research limitations/implications: Results obtained from both the International Cavitation Erosion Test program as well as the own experiments carried out at the rotating disk set-up supplied necessary experimental data. Preliminary verification of the method soundness was completed. Assumption on the independence of the calculation parameters on the loading conditions have been taken. The approach is valid provided the defined relationships are also independent on the type and amplitude of the loading. Practical implications: Achieving the objectives is expected to result in developing a technique for assessment of the material damage under cavitation loadings. Numerical implementation of the model completed with the derived functional relationships stand for a tool, enabling a prospective user to predict the material performance under defined cavitation loading. Originality/value: New formulas for calculating the efficiency of cavitation erosion, inferred from the models of high physical clarity are the original contribution to the methodology and techniques concerned.
