Response of moving load over a surface is an intriguing problem of mechanics to determine the stability and strength of a structure. Owing to this the present theoretical framework is devoted to find the stresses and electrical displacements of an irregular visco-porous piezoelectric half-space originated due to a uniformly moving line load. Expressions for normal stress, shear stress and electrical displacements have been derived in closed form. Effect of irregularity depth, irregularity factors and frictional coefficient on the stresses and electrical displacements are delineated graphically. Numerical demonstration of procured results is interpreted by means of graphs for two different materials, namely PZT-5A and PZT-7. A comparative study emphasising various irregularity (parabolic, rectangular and no irregularity) is among the salient features of the study.

AbstractUsing claims data on more than 23 million statutorily insured, we investigate the causal effect of schooling on health in the largest and most comprehensive analysis for Germany to date. In a regression discontinuity approach, we exploit changes in compulsory schooling in West Germany to estimate the reduced form effect of the reforms on health, measured by doctor diagnoses in ICD-10 format covering physical as well as mental health conditions. To mitigate the problem that empirical results depend on subjective decisions made by the researcher, we perform specification curve analyses to assess the robustness of findings across various model specifications. We find that the reforms have, at best, very small impacts on the examined doctor diagnoses. In most of the specifications we estimate insignificant effects that are close to zero and often of the “wrong” sign. Therefore, our study questions the presence of the large positive effects of education on health that are found in the previous literature.

During concrete construction in winter, the concrete performance is generally improved by adding a chemical admixture or providing protection using tents and hot-air blowers. However, long-term strength or safety accidents may occur due to the installation and removal of the tents. This study considered insulated gang forms to improve formwork methods. In this regard, the microstructure and micropore characteristics of concrete were investigated experimentally to examine the insulated gang form effect on the physical and mechanical properties of concrete. The micropore characteristics were investigated through scanning electron microscopy. The results confirm that applying insulated gangs improves workability and safety without adding chemical admixture. Moreover, the application of insulated gang forms reduces the use of tents and hot-air blowers. Therefore, insulated gangs provide excellent initial quality to the concrete.

The dialectical unity of the essence and the cultural code phenomenon regarding of the visual arts are dealt with in that article. Artworks are considered based on Lotman`s understanding of artwork as culture text. Discusses multiplicity of art forms and multifunctionality of arts form. Effect of changes in time and historical periods an impact on satisfaction of secular and profane human`s requirements. The author focuses on visual and illustrative forms of fine arts and focuses on analysis of traditional fine arts categories. The cultural code in visual art system is considered at Paleolithic artifacts, ancient Egypt`s art and medieval art examples.

AbstractWhile the “symbolic” meaning of early body ornamentation has received the lion’s share of attention in the debate on human origins, this paper sets out to explore their aesthetic and agentive dimensions, for the purpose of explaining how various ornamental forms would have led interacting groups to form a cultural identity of their own. To this end, semiotics is integrated with a new paradigm in the archaeology of mind, known as the theory of material engagement. Bridging specifically Peirce’s pragmatic theory and Malafouris’ enactive take on aesthetics allows us to appreciate the formation of aesthetic ideals through the agentive effects of material signs. It is thus proposed that, by attending to the interrelation between form, effect, and affect, members of social groups would have come to appreciate the ways in which their ornamental culture resembles and differs from that of neighbouring groups. Following the Lund conception of cultural semiotics, I argue that models of Ego-culture would have come to evolve along Alter-cultures that also employ ornaments, and against Alius-cultures that have yet to develop or adopt personal decoration. The aesthetic ideals associated with early body ornaments must have therefore played a catalytic role in the formation and communication of group membership. I thus close by proposing that the origins of new cultural identities can be explained by tracing the co-development of ideas and ideals.
