Oral and poetic creativity played a huge role in the development of the Avar language, in particular, in the for-mation, formation and development of written and literary norms. It was folklore that had a beneficial influence on the formation and development of the narrative genres of Avar fiction. Already at the dawn of its develop-ment, Avar fiction used all the expressive means of colloquial speech developed in folklore. The hammered syllable of the oral and poetic creativity of the Avars, its rich vocabulary, complex syntactic constructions were the basis for the formation of written literary norms.

The article deals with the notes of the Dagestan goldsmith-gunsmith M. G. Kushiev (1877–1942), in which he told about its unique and rich experiences of life. Memoirs of Magomed Kushiev is also a story about the life of thousands of Dagestan retirees – masters of various professions and crafts, who regularly left their villages to work. Notes of M. Kushiev have obvious folk roots, as in the story, and the form. In addition, there is a similarity with the European adventure novel. But the main value of the memoirs of Kushiev that we can see the world of the late XIX – early XX centuries through the eyes of the Dagestan man of this period.

This article touches on some morphological-syntactic and lexical issues related to the category of gender, number and case in nouns and issues of the syntactic connection of control and coordination, both in the Lezghin and in the Russian parts of the Lezghin-Russian dictionary we are editing. Based on factual material, the existing problems on the above issues are demonstrated and the importance of compliance with all language standards in practice is emphasized.

The structure of the musical folklore of the Dargins is considered in accordance with the social organization, in relation to the levels of the rural community: tribal (tukhum), rural neighbor (jamaat) and inter-village (khureba). In the article, the author, basing on the field expedition material from the personal archive, focuses on the ritual genres of the tribal and calendar cycles that exist in both applied and ritual functions. In the ritual genres, the forms of performance are revealed, and the attachment of vocal and instrumental genres to gender and age groups is also traced.

The article attempts to highlight the traditional art of arms in Dagestan. A generalizing analysis of the arms trade is given; on the example of the author's works of the master of cold weapons Ramazan Akhmedov, the degree of influence of the author's works on the further development of modern arms art in Dagestan as a whole (for the period of the late XX – early XXI centuries) is determined. The innovative technologies and the characteristic ornamental style of compositions of the author's edged weapons are described.
