“AND NOW THERE ARE CZECH SETTLEMENTS, I.A. IN THE CAUCASUS”

The purpose of this article is to introduce Czech immigrants’ dialects still spoken in several villages in Krasnodar Krai, Adygea and Omsk Oblast of Russia. These dialects appeared as a result of different waves of Czech rural migration in the latter half of the 19th and at the start of the 20th century respectively. The author analyzes the main features of the named varieties, focusing on those that indicate the dialects’ origin, on the one hand, and those that have been affected by their long-term contact with the dominant Russian language, on the other.

SYNTAX AND TEACHING OF CZECH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: A COMPARATIVE APPROACH

The important constructive role of syntax in speech communication and university teaching of the Czech language is considered. The comparative aspect with reliance on the native language is of particular importance for philologists-Russianists. THE ORTHOGRAPHIC AND PHONETIC BOHEMISMS IN THE 17TH CENTURY SLOVAK TRANSLATIONS OF COMENIUS' JANUA LINGUAE LATINAE RESERATA AUREA

The article is devoted to the analysis of the orthographic and phonetic systems of two independent 17th century translations of the J.A. Comeniusʼ paper into Slovak language. Analysis of the text revealed a close connection between the translation language and the Czech language. It presents a significant number of bohemisms and the degree of their use varies significantly, and some of them are even used absolutely consistently. At the same time, the translation language has an amazing similarity, although one of them is more conservative in terms of preserving elements of Czech origin.

SYSTEM APPROACH IN THE STUDY OF DERIVATION AND MORPHOLOGY IN THE SLAVIC LANGUAGES AND THE NEW SCIENTIFIC PARADIGM

The articles referring to the works of A. G. Shirokova considers the actuality of the system and function approaches in modern linguistics, including comparative analysis of Slavic languages. It also discusses possible applications and further development of these approaches with regard to Slavic word formation and the category of aspect. The author shows that it is hardly possible to explain the differences in semantics and use of aspect (as well as other grammar forms) between Russian and Czech without the system approach.

UČEBNICE NA VĚČNÉ ČASY OR THE MYTH OF THE PERFECT TEXTBOOK

This article is about one of the most popular Czech textbooks. The main attention is paid to the way of presentation of language material, types of exercises and functional-stylistic differentiation of the Czech language. The article provides a brief description of several teaching techniques that help students develop and improve their level of speaking in Czech. The final part of the article is devoted to two new textbooks of the Czech language. The author concludes that an ideal textbook should focus on the students' native language and rely on a functional approach in the presentation of linguistic material.

"CZECH-RUSSIAN PHRASEOLOGICAL DICTIONARY": LIFE AND DESTINY

The article describes the history of the creation of the "Czech-Russian phraseological dictionary", initiated by A. Wurm and brought to completion by V.M. Mokienko. A.G. ON THE PROBLEM OF INTERLANGUAGE ASYMMETRY OF RELATED LANGUAGES (CZECH VERB MÍT AND ITS RUSSIAN EQUIVALENTS)

This article presents an interlanguage comparative analysis of the Czech verb mít and its equivalents in Russian. Functional and semantic similarities and differences of the verbs under consideration demonstrate both the commonality of the processes of historical development of closely related languages and the national specifics of each language, which explains the interlanguage structural and functional asymmetry in the analyzed area.

PHRASEOLOGICAL IDEOLOGEMES AS AN INTERTEXTUAL MARKER: STYLISTIC, PRAGMATIC ASPECT AND THE PROBLEM OF TRANSLATION (BASED ON THE WORKS OF VEN. EROFEEV AND J. ŠKVORECKÝ)

The article examines stable lexical units that can be considered as phraseological by their nature; such units contain in their semantics certain notional and stylistic features that reflect the socio-political realities of the time. These units can be attributed to phraseological ideologemes, the stylistic and pragmatic function of which is analyzed by the example of their use in a literary text.
