The gap is increasing: ThyssenKrupp Rothe Erde manufactures increasingly large workpieces with ever smaller tolerances on behalf of its customers. Quality Assurance in Lippstadt, Germany, therefore sought out a precise system to measure the several-meter large components for offshore technology, large gears and tunneling machines – and convinced ZEISS to design a coordinate measuring machine with a six-meter X axis.

Always use the latest production technology: Aluline, a manufacturer of aluminum components and solutions from high-wage country Denmark, has operated on this principle to excel on the global market. In order to stay competitive and up to date, the family-run company is intensely focused on process innovation and also uddates its measuring technology on a regular basis: the Danish enterprise recently introduced two ZEISS ACCURA coordinate measuring machines with a new scanning probe. This made the company not only the first in Scandinavia to rely on this technology, but also allowed it to reduce measuring times by up to 70 percent.

The person ordering the research was Mr. Andrzej Cichy of the Faculty of Wood Technology at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. The painting was made available from his private collection. The aim of the research conducted by SMARTTECH was to study the impact of changes in humidity on the deformation of a wooden panel painting support.

The aim of this paper is to detail the creation of a roller bearing model with flexible body cages in the Adams program suite for subsequent dynamic analysis and to obtain information about kinematic and dynamic relationships of steel and plastic cages under various operating conditions. The bearing model was made to closely resemble its real-life counterpart, which allows us to estimate load conditions, dynamic conditions of individual bearing parts and interactions between them.

Researches provided on University of Warsaw Geology Department uses a 3D scanner to make advanced analysis of quartz crystals found on different places on Earth. Quartz crystals are formed in the same process for millions of years. They usually grow in regions of active volcanoes and earthquakes. Their final shape and color depend from number of external factors such as for example pressure, and temperature. Precise 3D scan of quartz crystals made with sub millimeter accuracy gives scientists unique possibilities of researching the condition under which the crystal was formed and discovering the earth condition from hundred thousand years ago.

The stabilization of screw joint and influence of factors protecting against loosening of the joint have been discussed in the present article. The results of experimental examinations associated with the impact of the type of protective coat on threaded section and lubrication on the value of tightening torque have been also presented.

With its high-tech prosthetics, Icelandic company Össur would like to enable people to live without limitations. The company manufactures most of the components for the artificial limbs at its own production facilities in Reykjavik. To ensure the quality of the highly complex prosthetics, Össur uses two coordinate measuring machines from ZEISS in production. All measured data is gathered in PiWeb software, which generates analyses and documentation at the push of a button.

Tension fields are shown to have an influence on surface pressure and on material deformation in the riveted joints in thin walled structures and particularly in semistressed skin structures. Stresses and materials displacements were analyzed in the riveted joints performing under such conditions. Special attention has been attached to estimation of the microslips occurring between rivets and holes. A thin plate panel has been used for the test sample, which under effort condition revealed tension fields.
