Introduction: Oct4 gene is one of the important genes involved in stem cell self-renewal control. Recently, this gene has been proposed as a novel molecular marker for cancer detection. Therefore, in this study we examined the expression of Oct4 gene in MIA Paca-2, PA-TU-8902 and AsPC-1 cell lines as well as pancreatic cancer.

Background and Aims: The war in Yemen caused the already weak health system in the country to decline. We conducted a 3-year retrospective chart review on patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) attending an endocrinology center for the first time during the war, most of the patients were treated by internists and in government hospitals prior to presentation and only a small amount had seen a specialist prior to presentation.

Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) has revolutionized the management of diabetes and has become the standard of care for the management of Type 1 diabetes. The primary factor preventing widespread uptake of CGM is cost. Currently there is little provincial coverage for CGM, and many patients still must pay for the technology. The cost of CGM is here evaluated in comparison to standard care (self monitoring of blood glucose), including analysis of cost-savings and improvements in quality of life that could be achieved with the use of CGM. When costs of comorbidities and absenteeism that could be reduced by the use of CGM are included in the analysis, it is determined that CGM is cost-neutral relative to standard care.
