In the article, the Belarusian interests of Slavists who worked at the University of Warsaw in the ХІХ – early ХХ centuries are described and analyzed (at different times: Royal University of Warsaw, Main School of Warsaw, Imperial University of Warsaw). The writings, which now belong to Belarus, in the beginning ХІХth century attracted the attention of S. Linde and in the end ХІХth century – that of J. Karsky. The first, because of objective reasons, could not consider its gradual development, and the second made a thorough description, noting the cessation of „Western Russian writing” (in Cyrillic and Arabic versions).

The article is devoted to the study of the reception of antiquity in the works of Belarusian writers in Bialystok. The main directions of the reception of antiquity in the Belarusian literature of the twentieth century, the productive models of the appeal of Belarusian authors in Poland to the comprehension of classical metacodes are considered. The topic of antiquity is not the main one for the work of Bialystotsky authors, thanks to this it was possible to expand the coverage of authors, analyze the work of writers belonging to different generations and characterize two characteristic directions of the reception of antiquity: folklore and book, based on two ideas about the development of Belarusian literature. The reception of antiquity is regarded as an important part of the Belarusian-Polish interethnic and intercultural dialogue.

The passive participles of the present tense have been actively used only in Russian out of all Slavic languages since the 19th century and are a grammatical category that is not accepted by all native speakers of the standard Belarusian language as a normative one. During the development of Slavic languages, it has been experiencing two opposite tendencies: decline and revival. The article examines extralinguistic and intralinguistic factors that could have influenced the development of this verb form in a number of Slavic languages. According to the author, the bilingual Slavic-Greek consciousness of the creators of Slavic writing could have influenced the strengthening of these forms in the Russian language. The article analyzes possible connections of the Slavic participles of the present tense with the medial and passive participles of the Greek language in the light of their common origin from the Indo-European participle, as well as the process of development of participles during the restructuring of the voice category and in connection with the development of the aspect category.

The article discusses the Northern subdialect group of the Northeastern Belarusian dialect, which is one of the least studied in terms of its structure and genesis. It is characterized primarily by a number of lexical and lexical-semantic features, typical not only for this area of Belarus, but linking it with Russian dialects and dialects of the Baltic languages. These features were formed in various historical periods: the oldest (from before the writing system appeared) include, among others, the so-called cokan'e and the preservation of the suffix -dl- forming the names of farm tools; the syncretism of noun endings probably dates back to to the general Russian period, while the pronouns íchny, jéjny and the verb forms jadzióm and dadzióm are newer innovations from the period of the formation of Belarusian dialects.

The article presents and analyses the translations by young Belarusian writers of Polish poetry, emphasising the variety of the some half dozen Belarusian translators, and also the nature of the poets they selected. Attention is paid, where appropriate, to Poland and its literature’s particular relevance to Belarusian culture, and, more generally, to the close relationship between the two countries, both historically and at the present difficult time.

This article explores the known published lyrical works of Barbara Kwapisz (1949), a Polish-born poet who learnt Belarusian upon moving to Białowieża to work as a teacher and coming into contact with the local Belarusian ethnic minority, their customs and culture. In order to analyse Kwapisz's poetry, we consulted the archive of the weekly magazine "Niva", as well as the 1980 edition of the "Belaveža" literary almanac. We managed to find a total of 11 poems dating from 1976 to 1980 which we analysed from the linguistic and literary point of view. After our study of Barbara Kwapisz's works, we came to the conclusion that her poetry deserves both recognition and scientific attention, since she is both a key representative of the phenomenon of exophony in the Belarusian language and a notable poet.

The article examines flora images as part of the artistic system of motifs and a characteristic of the motif complexes of U. Dubouka’s poetry and clarifies the metaphorical potential of plant images from linguistic cliches and rhetorical figures to discrete, complex symbolic allegories filled with original semantics and associative-authorial innovations. Conclusions are drawn on the basis of the peculiar functioning and diversity of national folklore-romanticized flora images in the poems The train was in a hurry, Thoughts, thoughts, how can I reassure you, Chords, chords!, A little of autumn and a handful of maple leaves, On a winter snow-covered day... by U. Dubouka, the ideological and thematic dominants of the poet’s creativity are determined.

The article is devoted to a general description of the early East Slavic documents created in the Belarusian and Ukrainian territories. Such a description requires at least a brief historical and geographical commentary. The article also contains the earliest East Slavic agreements, including those where Lithuanian princes are mentioned. The first documents of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, their structure and language are considered. The article analyzes the transition from the Greek-Byzantine model of building business documents to the Polish-Latin one. Particular attention is paid to documents written in "prosta mova", as Belarusian and Ukrainian dialectal features appeared there very early.

The article is devoted to the situation of the Polish language in Kamarova (the village of Kamarova and neighbouring villages) located in the Myadzyel district of the Minsk region in the north-west of Belarus. It is a research area which appeared in my scientific interests for the first time in 2010, but was known to me much earlier, because I was born and grew up in this part of Belarus. My own memory and regularly conducted research of a linguistic and identity nature make it possible not only to describe the fate of the Polish language and Polishness in this region, but also to trace the changes occurring in the constantly changing reality over several decades. The illustrative material are fragments of autobiographical narra¬tives recorded during the exploration of the mentioned area.
