Started in 2007, the PN2 MEMDUR project’s main objective is to design, develop, test and implement in Dambovita County an advanced management system which has to assure the evaluation of the environmental risk in order to administrate the crises situations, in accordance with the demands required by the sustainable development on local, regional and national level. This paper tries to emphasize one of the most important parts of the project which manages the recorded data collected from the measuring workstations. Those workstations measure several parameters in fixed or mobile points.

Culture is an integral part of human formation, and environmental culture determines a person’s willingness to make environmentally friendly decisions in all areas of activity. It is the level of ecological culture that determines the practical readiness to responsibly treat the environment of both employees and managers. To this end, this article explores the problem of an insufficient level of ecological culture development of employees and managers of enterprises that entail a deterioration in the environment quality. When studying this topic, special attention has been paid to the implementation of an environmental management system based on the sustainable development principles. The methods to increase the interest of managers in the introduction and implementation of the environmental management system, based on the European Union experience, and ways to improve the environmental culture of employees in the enterprise are analyzed. The result of the study is practical and theoretical methods for improving environmental culture, based on early scientific research in this area and personal opinions of the authors.

PurposeThe study provides an overview of the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) standard and its potential in helping a company to improve its environmental performance. The work aims to investigate a company's perception towards the implementation of the EMAS environmental management system with the benefits and the critical areas derived from it, the overall assessment of the certification and its possible future developments.Design/methodology/approachThe study develops an empirical analysis of Italian EMAS III certified companies, through the administration of a questionnaire to all those Italian companies that were EMAS certified and that provided a valid e-mail address on the EMAS register. Overall, 231 Italian companies took part in the survey.FindingsThe results confirm the heterogeneous effects of an Environmental Management System depending on the company profile and highlight the positive influence of certification on environmental management. It emerges how the EMAS certification is approached more for internal reasons, and therefore gives more internal benefits to companies that implement it. Moreover, the time from which companies have been certified turns out to be a relevant factor for obtaining environmental and organizational benefits connected with EMAS certification.Originality/valueThe recent decrease in EMAS registrations has not been sufficiently studied, leaving unsolved questions for scholars, practitioners and policy-makers. Previous studies used a negativist perspective, identifying the barriers that led to the non-renewal of the certification. The present study aims to focus on the positive factors, which have led still active companies to renew the certification.

This research aims to examine the determination of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and environmental performance on the company's financial performance as moderated by foreign ownership in the stock structure of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This research uses a quantitative method by analyzing 27 manufacturing companies listed on the IDX through purposive sampling-based sample selection, then data analysis using the moderated regression analysis method. The results showed that foreign ownership could not moderate the effect of EMS proxied by ISO 14001 certification on the financial performance of the entity proxied by ROA, but on the other hand, the structure of foreign ownership shares could positively and significantly moderate the effect of environmental performance proxied by PROPER KLHK. on the entity's financial performance. Meanwhile, if tested directly, neither EMS nor environmental performance has an effect on the company's financial performance.

This paper aims to explore how an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on ISO 14001would assist to enhance the performance of a Food Manufacturing Company. The research objectives were to assess the current environmental aspects and related impact and define mitigation measures to minimize such aspects while focusing on the applicable legislative requirements for the industry and the existingmitigation measures. Different types of waste generatedduringtheprocesses were identified basedonUnitedNationsEnvironmentalPlan(UNEP) cleaner production methodology and baseline data related to waste generation were analysed using Pareto charts. An Environmental Aspect Impact Register was prepared for each division to identify environmental hazards based on risk assessment criteria given in ISO 31010 Standard and the results compared before and after risk levels using the T- test.Analysis of the environmental aspect impact register results concluded that implemented mitigation measures were effective on particular causes at 95% confidence level and adopting Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in this company had made apositive impact on the identified performance indicators including environmental performance indicators and financial indicators. It further recognized that there was more positive impact on water saving as the quantity of water used in the manufacturing processes had already reduced.

Currently, studies of the problems of convergence of leading countries in terms of the lean use of natural resources, the reduction of harmful emissions and the transition to using new types of energy carriers are highly relevant, with regard to sustainable development mainstream. At the same time, the majority of authors consider convergent processes from an economic or socio-political point of view. In this regard, the article examines the issues of ecological convergence, as a special structural shift in the economy, leading to radical positive changes in the environmental management system and a decrease in anthropogenic impact on the environment.
