AbstractA convenient and efficient solvent-free, facile, one-pot three-component graphene oxide catalysed approach has been described for the synthesis of chromeno-[4,3-b]quinolin-6-one derivatives from 4-hydroxycoumarin with aldehydes and aromatic amines. Graphene oxide (GO) has proved to be a new class of heterogeneous carbocatalyst which could be easily recovered and reused up to 5th run without significant loss of its catalytic activity. A broad scope of substrate applicability is offered and a plausible mechanism is also suggested for this developed protocol.

ABSTRACTNa+ in the Preyssler heteropolytungstate anion [NaP5W30O110]14− can be exchanged for a trivalent lanthanide ion. The potential significance of this new class of lanthanide heteropolyanions relates to their applications in catalysis science. This view follows from the fact that Keggin heteropolyanions and their free acids are used as heterogeneous solid catalysts and homogeneous solution catalysts. We describe synthetic conditions that lead to the incorporation of Ce3+ and Pr3+ within the Preyssler anion, and the coprecipitation of Ce3+ and the Preyssler anion. Initial studies indicate that the latter, coprecipitated, material deserves study for bifunctional catalytic activity.

A new class of conductive MOFs can be directly used as a bifunctional electrocatalyst for both the ORR and OER. By adding Ru into the pristine MOF, the resultant catalyst exhibits high catalytic activity in all-solid-state Zn–air batteries.

Quantum dot is a new class of nanomaterials having size in nanometers (˂10 nm). This material has excellent photo-catalytic activity towards dyes and pollutants with great absorbance and photoluminescence properties. It shows shifting of peak in UV-FL data which indicates the excitation dependent emission spectra means tunable properties in different wavelength and this property makes it a wonderful probe for sensing application for different heavy metals, pollutants present in water. In this chapter the synthesis, properties, types, application of quantum dots and focus on the research that has been done in field of water treatment with possible future outcomes is discussed.
