The fuzzy operator is one of the most important elements affecting the control performance of interval type-2 (IT2) fuzzy proportional-integral (PI) controllers. At present, the most popular fuzzy operators are product fuzzy operator and min() operator. However, the influence of these two different types of fuzzy operators on the IT2 fuzzy PI controllers is not clear. In this research, by studying the derived analytical structure of an IT2 fuzzy PI controller using typical configurations, it is proved mathematically that the variable gains, i.e., proportional and integral gains of typical IT2 fuzzy PI controllers using the min() operator are smaller than those using the product operator. Moreover, the study highlights that unlike the controllers based on the product operator, the controllers based on the min() operator have a simple analytical structure but provide more control laws. Real-time control experiments on a linear motor validate the theoretical results.

We propose two new methods to find the solution of fuzzy goal programming (FGP) problem by weighting method. Here, the relative weights represent the relative importance of the objective functions. The proposed methods involve one additional goal constraint by introducing only underdeviation variables to the fuzzy operatorλ(resp., 1-λ), which is more efficient than some well-known existing methods such as those proposed by Zimmermann, Hannan, Tiwari, and Mohamed. Mohamed proposed that every fuzzy linear program has an equivalent weighted linear goal program where the weights are restricted as the reciprocals of the admissible violation constants. But the above proposition of Mohamed is not always true. Furthermore, the proposed methods are easy to apply in real-life situations which give better solution in the sense that the objective values are sufficiently closer to their aspiration levels. Finally, for illustration, two real examples are used to demonstrate the correctness and usefulness of the proposed methods.

Taking the configuration design of the lifting device in a bridge crane as an example, this paper discusses the green optimal design method of enterprise's modular products with uncertain factors. The multi-layer generalized operators and comprehensive mathematical model under uncertainty are established based on the mapping relationship between product function and its structure. The model is transformed to an ascertaining combinatorial optimization model by de-fuzzy operator, and then it is solved by GA (Genetic Algorithm, GA). The method of chromosome encoding in binary that the chromosome is segmented by components and the genes in each segment are ranged as corresponding structures of each component, and the methods of selection and crossover and mutation operator are presented in this paper. The result of the green configuration design on the lifting device verifies the effectiveness and practical value of the method proposed in this paper.

We introduce a new method for modeling rating (utility) functions which employs techniques from fuzzy set theory. The main idea is to build a hierarchical model, called a fuzzy operator tree (FOT), by recursively decomposing a rating criterion into sub-criteria, and to combine the evaluations of these sub-criteria by means of suitable aggregation operators. Apart from the model conception itself, we propose an evolutionary method for model calibration that fits the parameters of an FOT to exemplary ratings. The possibility to adapt an FOT to a given set of data makes the approach also interesting from a machine learning point of view. The performance of the approach is evaluated by means of a suitable experimental study.
