Smoking behaviour has a bad impact on teenagers, including the lack of motivation to achieve academically. Previous research claims that the perception of smoking and the motivation to quit smoking may impact smoking behaviour. The purpose of the research, identifying which one of both variables play a stronger role in its impact toward the teenager’s smoking behavior. The research is a quantitative research involving 192 teenagers as the sample in Bandung city, using questionnaires on perception, motivation, and behavior. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate and Spearman correlation tests. The findings of this research shows that 56% of Bandung teenagers have a positive perception, 51% others a positive motivation, and 56% positive behaviour. This proves that the coefficient value of the correlation between perception and motivation is 0.238, and the coefficient value of the correlation between motivation and behavior is 0.387. This research concludes that the motivation to quit smoking has a stronger relationship than the perception of smoking. Thus, to change the smoking behaviour in teenagers, it is necessary to increase the motivation to quit smoking whatsoever. Possible actions is to have a counselling session to help change the teenager’s health behaviour. The value of study to obtain the unique characteristic of teenager in Indonesia.

Effective mass-reach smoking-cessation interventions are required in order to accelerate the decline in the prevalence of smoking in Australia and other industrialised countries. Such large-scale interventions still rely, to a major extent, on theoretical principles derived from research with clinical or other opportunistic samples. Schachter (1982) argues that this type of research provides information which is unrepresentative of smokers in the general population. We compared a population-probability sample with a sample of smokers enrolling in a smoking-cessation program offered by a community health centre. The health centre sample was composed of predominantly female, older smokers who had higher smoking rates, had made more previous attempts to stop smoking, and tended to attribute their last relapse to irritability. We discuss some potential implications for research relevant to population-wide smoking control strategies.

Abstract. The main research areas of the Social and Health Psychology group at the Department of Psychology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, are introduced. Exemplarily, three currently ongoing projects are described. The project ”Dyadic exchange processes in couples facing dementia” examines social exchanges in couples with the husband suffering from dementia and is based on Equity Theory. This project applies a multi-method approach by combining self-report with observational data. The ”Swiss Tobacco Monitoring System” (TMS) is a representative survey on smoking behaviour in Switzerland. Besides its survey character, the Swiss TMS also allows for testing psychological research questions on smoking with a representative sample. The project, ”Theory-based planning interventions for changing nutrition behaviour in overweight individuals”, elaborates on the concept of planning. More specifically, it is tested whether there is a critical amount of repetitions of a planning intervention (e.g., three or nine times) in order to ensure long-term effects.

The type of research used in this research is quantitative research. The source of the data in the research is primary data. The population in this study are all employees of PT Efrata Retailindo totalling 47 people. Sampling techniques in the study using a purposive sample. While the data collection method used is to use the questionnaire to all employees of PT Efrata Retailindo. Data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that work stress had no effect on performance of employees of PT Efrata Retailindo, while information systems accounting effect on the performance of the employees of PT Efrata Retailindo. The value of the coefficient of determination (R2) amounting to 0.106. This indicates that variansi on a variable performance practice undertaken by the company PT Efrata Retailindo of 10.6% can be explained by work stress variables and accounting information systems, while the remaining 89.4% explained by other factors outside the researched.
