Design and Implementation of Different Control Strategies of Unit Power Factor Three-Phase PWM Rectifier for Output Voltage Regulation

In this chapter, a new technique has been proposed for reducing the harmonic content of a three-phase PWM rectifier connected to the networks with a unit power factor and also providing decoupled control of the active and reactive instantaneous power. This technique called direct power control (DPC) is based on artificial neural network (ANN) controller, without line voltage sensors. The control technique is based on well-known direct torque control (DTC) ideas for the induction motor, which is applied to eliminate the harmonic of the line current and compensate for the reactive power. The main idea of this control is based on active and reactive power control loops. The DC voltage capacitor is regulated by the ANN controller to keep it constant and also provides a stable active power exchange. The simulation results are very satisfactory in the terms of stability and total harmonic distortion (THD) of the line current and the unit power factor.

This paper deals with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in only one of its multiple operating modes, that is when the BESS is charging the battery bank and with the focus on the control scheme design for the BESS input stage, which is a three-phase LCL-filter PWM rectifier. The rectifier's main requirements comprise output voltage regulation, power factor control, and low input current harmonic distortion, even in the presence of input voltage variations. Typically, these objectives are modeled by using a dq model with its corresponding two-loop controller architecture, including an outer voltage loop and a current internal loop. This paper outlines an alternative approach to tackle the problem by using not only an input–output map linearization controller, with the aim of a single-loop current control, but also by avoiding the dq modeling. In this case, the voltage is indirectly controlled by computing the current references based on the converter power balance. The mathematical model of the three-phase LCL-filter PWM rectifier is defined based on the delta connection of the filter, which accomplishes the requirements of a 100 kW BESS module. Extensive simulation results are included to confirm the performance of the proposed closed-loop control in practical applications.

This paper examines how a Reversing voltage multilevel inverter (RVMLI) strategy is enforced to develop multilevel inverter fulfilment. This approach has been used SPWM-PD technique to regulate the electrical inverter. It desires numerous less range of carrier signals to deliver gate pulses of switches. Increasing within the levels during this strategy aid in reduction of output voltage harmonics expeditiously and improves power quality at output of the electrical inverter. It wants a lowered quantity of total switches, which is in a position to decreases of switching losses in this process. The Three-phase reversing voltage multilevel inverter of 7- level and 9- level is accomplished for R-load and R-L load and Three Phase Induction Motor. A reversing voltage multilevel inverter of 7- level and 9- level simulation is intended and developed. Mat lab/Simulink outcome is awarded to validate the proposed scheme.
