The number of people with disabilities (PWDs) is expected to increase over years due to the increase of human lifespan and accidents. However, the PWDs as a result of some social factors, such as environment inaccessibility, insufficient job opportunity, inadequate education aids, etc. are excluded from participating their leisure activities or dining out in the society. This study aims to investigate and evaluate the design of barrier-free environment of restaurants in Taiwan famous tourism areas via the restaurant customer satisfaction of PWDs regarding the barrier-free facility and service quality. The results show that the qualified percentage of barrier-free physical environment design is only 44%, and PWDs are not satisfied with the barrier-free physical environment including the space allotted in parking lots, restroom accessibility for PWDs, as well as the slipperiness of floors. The regression analysis shows the barrier-free physical environment and service quality aspect with respect to post-purchase intentions reach statistical significance indicating the environment design for the PWDs is critical to the restaurant management especially in a tourism area.

The necessity of updating of the content of education for a bachelor's degree in socio-cultural activities, taking into account the requirements of the federal state educational standard of higher education in the direction of preparation 51.03.03 "Socio-cultural activity" is substantiated. The concepts of the quality of life, cultural inclusion and indicators of socio-cultural inequality of people with disabilities included in the socially unprotected group of the population are considered. The article analyzes the statistical data presented by the Federal State Statistics Service concerning the costs of leisure services and the needs of people with disabilities in comparison with the healthy working-age population. The necessity of updating the content of professional training of bachelors of socio-cultural activity on the basis of identifying the needs of people with disabilities in various forms of cultural and leisure activities is proved. The question is raised about the relevance of further research of indicators of socio-cultural inequality in the cultural inclusion of people belonging to a socially vulnerable group of the population.

Cooperation differently oriented public institutions in order to develop leisure activities of people with disabilities is crucial in relation to the implementation of a series of legislative standards (UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Act on the promotion of sports, etc.). The city of Olomouc is one of the most active operators in the long term municipal level, which addresses support for people with disabilities or physical handicaps comprehensively. In 2012, the APA Center began an intense collaboration (Department APA, FTK UP in Olomouc) with the Department of Social Affairs to address accessibility of cultural and sports facilities, public spaces, playgrounds, etc for people woth special needs. As part of efforts to unify methodologies and sharing information we intend to use in the monitoring of barrier-free collaboration with Kazuist company. APA Center was invited to a group of community planning in the city of Olomouc. In addressing the use of specific professional works contracts by the city for the development of leisure activities, promotion of tourism and social services.

The aim of this article is to analyse life conditions for families with children and young people with disabilities. Special focus is on: legislation, management and organisations, social support and service, housing, education, work and daily activities and leisure activities. The method used is a case study including interviews with parents and professionals. The study also includes an analysis of documents and regulations. The study shows that the support system is transparent and accessible. At the same time managers in the municipalities’ social care services interpret their responsibility in different ways thus affecting the support and service for the families. Even though the families have legal rights to a wide range of support and service, the parents have to work to gain access to these and for user influence to be exerted.

Abstract Participation—defined as engagement in life situations, including leisure and recreational activities—is associated with the improvement of people with disabilities' quality of life. Several specific instruments assess leisure, but none of them has been adapted to the Spanish context. The goal of this study is to adapt and validate the Spanish version of the Leisure Assessment Inventory (LAI; B. A. Hawkins, P. Ardovino, N. B. Rogers, A. Foose, & N. Olsen, 2002). The adaptation of the original version of the LAI was carried out through translation and backward translation, and the validity of the instrument was analyzed. Descriptive analyses (means and standard deviations) were conducted for each LAI index. Construct validity was assessed through Pearson's product-moment correlation among the diverse LAI indexes, and convergent-discriminant validity through the correlation of the diverse indexes and the measures of quality of life. Results show that the LAI indexes are valid measures of the attributes of leisure behavior (participation, preference, interest, and barriers). This study provides a valid instrument to assess the participation profile of adults with disabilities in leisure activities.

Despite the growing numbers of disabled individuals in the global population, issues of accessibility prevent them from accessing tourism sites and leisure activities. The purpose of this study is to identify the obstacles preventing people with disabilities from accessing historical and archaeological sites in Jordan. Using a sample of disabled people in Jordan and structured questionnaires, their views are collected and analyzed quantitatively. Descriptive statistics was used in the study to highlight the different features and perceptions of disabled people in relation to accessing tourism and leisure activities. The main issues identified as obstacles include the intrinsic factors such as their fear of doing something by themselves and the requirements imposed by their disabilities in accessing the services.   Received: 10 December 2020 / Accepted: 10 February 2021 / Published: 5 March 2021

Portrayals of children and youths with disabilities participating in various types of cultural activities during their leisure time have been understudied. The current study aims to understand how Swedish storybooks targeting youths and children with disabilities portray their cultural activities during their leisure time. A collection of 66 storybooks was strategically chosen for the analysis. Applying the grounded theory approach, the study codes for disabilities (sensory, physical, and cognitive) and dimensions of cultural capital (book reading, music, theatre, concerts, and sports). Low cultural activities are prominent leisure activities in the story books. Watching television and listening to popular music had a prominent role for the characters, whereas sports had a less prominent role. In summary, watching television dominates the cultural activities in the storybooks. With regards to music, the participants engage in karaoke. The storybooks again reinforce the impression that characters with disabilities can only appreciate lowbrow culture. The storybooks seldom portray images of highbrow cultural activities. However, exceptions exist that portray how people with disabilities create highbrow cultural activities, rather than being passive consumers. The storybooks seldom portray images of sports activities.
