Chlorinated compounds are widely used in agricultural applications where they are employed as components of pesticides; this leads often to pollution of groundwater near to agricultural sites, with serious effects for human health. The aim of the present study was the development of a membrane bioreactor, a new and effective water treatment technology, for the bioremediation of water polluted by 1,2-dichloroethane, 1,2-dichlorobenzene and 2-chlorophenol. Before starting-up the MBR system, a biomass was acclimated, to simultaneously degrade the three chlorinated compounds; then the acclimated biomass was inoculated into the MBR. The results showed a higher removal rate for 1,2-dichloroethane than for 1,2-dichlorobenzene; besides, the presence of 1,2-dichlorobenzene together with 1,2-dichloroethane decreased 1,2-dichloroethane specific removal rate. 2-chlorophenol was degraded only in presence of phenol as co-substrate, and the presence of phenol and 2-chlorophenol decreased 1,2-dichloroethane specific removal rate of approximately eight times, while 1,2-dichlorobenzene specific removal rate was not affected.

A large number of waste oil and sludge were generated during mining and processing. Untreated Sludge directly discharged into environment will lead to critical human health harm and serious environment pollution. As one of the petrochemical process major pollutants, treatment of oil sludge processing, at home and abroad, has been trying to study. Summary of development status and prospect research of oil sludge treatment technology, combining characteristics of the oily sludge, in domestic and foreign were made in this article.

The PM2.5 and other small particles produced by cooking oil fumes have contributed up to 25% to the urban atmospheric PM2.5, which has a bad impact on air quality and seriously threatens human health. Aiming at the pollution problem caused by catering oil fume, this article analyzes the threats of air pollution to human health based on the compositions and characteristics of catering oil fume, illustrates the development trend of China′s food and beverage lampblack control policy, and summarizes and points out the current situation and development trend of catering oil fume treatment. In order to provide ideas for the design of more efficient and energy-saving treatment processes in the future, the advantages and disadvantages were reviewed, and the improvement direction of the treatment technology was discussed.

Nutrition is important for human health in all stages of life - from conception to old age. Today we know much more about the molecular basis of nutrition. Most importantly, we have learnt that micronutrients, among other factors, interact with genes, and new science is increasingly providing more tools to clarify this interrelation between health and nutrition. Sufficient intake of vitamins is essential to achieve maximum health benefit. It is well established that in developing countries, millions of people still suffer from micronutrient deficiencies. However, it is far less recognized that we face micronutrient insufficiencies also in developed countries.
