Background: Anoestrus is still one of the most prevalent reproductive disorders in dairy cows despite technological advances in animal husbandry. Evaluation of blood biochemical profile is of diagnostic value to determine disease or health status of animal. The current study was aimed to evaluate the effect of different therapeutic regimen on blood biochemical profile, oestrus induction response and conception rate of anoestrus cows. Methods: Thirty two postpartum anoestrus cows randomly allocated to four groups as G0 (negative control), GI, GII, GIII, GIV and 8 normal cyclic as GV (positive control). Dewormer and mineral mixture administered to GI, GII, GIII, GIV while group GII, GIII and GIV additionally received janova, sepia and Ovsynch protocol respectively.Result: Different therapeutic protocols have variable effects on blood biochemical parameters. Overall oestrus induction response in G0, GI, GII, GIII, GIV and GV is 0.00, 50, 62.5, 75, 87.5 and 100.00 per cent respectively with corresponding conception rate of 0.00, 75, 80, 66.66, 57.13 and 75.00 per cent. On the basis of findings it can be concluded that aforesaid therapeutic regimens have definite bearings on fertility and can be used to manage postpartum anoestrus in cows.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of thymol and thymol nano polymer on the blood biochemical parameters and anti-diabetic activity in Streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Methods: The synthesized nano polymer (NP) was characterized by using different spectroscopy methods, such as IR, HNMR and CNMR. Loading and releasing of thymol were investigated by HPLC. Eleven groups of the Streptozotocin-induced diabetic and normal rats (overall 110 males) were tested through various biochemical factors such as: serum glucose, insulin, liver function-related enzymes including ALT, AST, ALP and bilirubin by ELISA kit methods. Results: It has shown that thymol nano polymer is desirable for transferring drug. The amount of thymol loaded on NP estimated at 43±2.5 %. Then, 65% of the loaded drug was released. LD50 for thymol and thymol nano polymer were 435 and 583 mg/kg, respectively. thymol nano polymer at doses of 30, 60 and 90 mg/kg, in a dose-dependent manner, reduced blood glucose, increased insulin levels, and controlled liver enzymes ALT, AST, ALP and bilirubin in the STZ-induced diabetic rats. Conclusion: The use of thymol nano polymer appears to be a new aspect concerning to protect diabetes-induced damage in the animal model.

The present study was conducted in 20 growing female Mehsana buffalo calves to study the effect of feeding cotton seed cake with the objective to increase growth and blood biochemical profile. Mehsana buffalo calves of 3-6 months of age were randomly divided in two groups on the basis of body weight and age. Group I was control (T1) fed Banasdan (concentrate mixture) whereas, group II (T2) was fed with cottonseed cake @ 700g, 850g and 960g for 1st, 2nd and 3rd month of treatment, respectively in addition to concentrate feed. Both the groups fed green fodder @ 3kg and dry fodder @ 1kg per day throughout the experiment. Body weights of individual calves were recorded at the commencement of the experiment and followed by monthly interval. Blood- biochemical constituents were recorded on day 1 and thereafter on day 90 of experiment period to analyze the changes in blood constituents in T1 and T2 groups. Average daily body weight gain of calves during the experimental period was higher (P less than 0.01) in T2 group as compared to T1 group. The serum glucose level was higher (P less than 0.05) in T1 group than T2 on day 90. The values of serum cholesterol, protein, globulin, ALP, SGOT and SGPT concentration were also significantly (P less than 0.01) higher in T2 group than T1 on day 90. However, the differences for serum albumin, A/G ratio, calcium and phosphorus on day 90 were found to be non-significant whereas metabolic hormone level T3 and T4 were significantly (P less than 0.01) higher in T2 than T1 on day 90. The results are indicative of supplementation of cotton seed cake in addition to Banasdan accelerated the growth, blood biochemical parameters and hormonal levels.
