Key recommendations for action

Background: The therapeutic alliance is considered to be one of the most important factors of psychotherapy and is a necessary requirement for a successful treatment in interpreter-mediated psychotherapy. Patients and Methods: Using interpreter-mediated guided interviews, 10 refugee patients who experienced interpreter-mediated psychotherapy were asked about factors influencing the development of a trusting therapeutic alliance in the triad. The analysis of the interviews followed the rules of content-structuring qualitative content analysis. Results: A total of 11 factors were identified which could be assigned to the interpreter, therapist, or patient. In the analysis, the central role of the interpreter in establishing a therapeutic alliance in the triad became particularly clear. Conclusions: Consideration of the factors that, from the patients’ perspective, influence the establishment and maintenance of a trusting alliance within the triad, as well as the recommendations for action derived from this for psychotherapists and interpreters can lead to an improvement in the therapeutic treatment of refugees.

In the scientific literature, there are numerous studies with different approaches and focuses on assessing the environmental impact of online shopping and shopping in the traditional retail channel. The aim of this work is to analyse scientific studies that quantitatively assess the environmental impact of transport activities in both channels and to extract the factors used for this assessment. A literature search was conducted for the period 2006 to October 2020, with 90 studies shortlisted, of which 15 studies were identified as relevant in a screening process. The analysis showed that a different number of factors is included in the selected studies. Logistics-related and behavioural factors are mostly of similar importance. Third-order effects, such as rebound or complementary effects, are rarely considered. Furthermore, it becomes clear that the results also depend on differences in study design and external factors. This work illustrates the complexity of quantitatively assessing the environmental impact of online and in-store shopping. Caution is advised when deriving recommendations for action from general statements about the environmental friendliness of a distribution channel. The 15 factors found, together with the classification method used, form a solid basis for building new models.

Recommended Action

More children and youth are developing emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) while services are dwindling. Social factors, unsympathetic public policy, and ineffective educational programming are formidable barriers for those of us who care about and work with these young people. However, we cannot desist in our responsibility as professionals. Through expanded expertise and ardent advocacy, we can make a difference in these regressive trends. This article presents an overview of current forces impinging on the field of EBD and offers some recommendations for action.

The construction industry is essentially determined by digital transformation and an increasingly complex market environment. Project controlling and monitoring is of high importance for construction site activities to achieve the project goals. Digital planning and recording methods make it possible to identify deviations at an early stage and to ensure the profitability of the project. To discuss the current practice of construction performance measurement as well as digital approaches in this domain, a qualitative study was carried out. The results of this empirical analysis examine the status quo of the construction performance measurement in civil engineering companies to illustrate the currently used methods and trends. Findings for the future use of digital planning and recording methods were obtained from the investigation. Based on empirical hypotheses, recommendations for action as well as for an improved process model are given.

IT IS A little over a year since a Panel appointed by the President published its report entitled "A Proposed Program for National Action to Combat Mental Retardation." In preparation for the report, members of the Panel discussed mental retardation in its broadest aspects with thousands of people in this country and abroad. Over 90 recommendations for action were made including recommendations for federal legislation. The enactment in October, 1963, of Public Law 88-156, "The Maternal and Child Health and Mental Retardation Planning Amendments of 1963" will make it possible for the Children's Bureau to carry out some of the major recommendations of the President's Panel.
