The provisions of food in order to fulfill the requirement for humankind could be followed through the implementation of the process of agricultural production. However, the food requirement could only be fulfilled self-sufficiently if food supplies were higher than the total consumption. The trend of the Indonesian rice production rises the problem that immediately must be overcome. This was caused by increasing consumption continuously resulting from the increase in population growth. Besides that, the other problems are rice field transformation, from rice field to industrial and residential area.

The city of Calgary has been one of fastest growing cities in Canada in recent years. Rapid population growth and a warming climate trend have raised concerns about sustainable water supply. In this study, historic climate, stream flow and population data are analyzed in order to develop models of future climate trends and river-water resource availability. Daily water demands for the next 60 years were projected using the relationship between daily maximum temperature and water demand under simulated climate and population growth scenarios. To maintain sustainable growth Calgary will require water conservation efforts that reduce per capita water use to less than half of the current level over the next 60 years, an interval when the civic population is expected to be doubled.

This article delineates new approaches to the study of food and famine in Chinese history. Drawing primarily from the three other articles in the symposium, the author asks in what ways the Chinese state, primarily in the high Qing period, affected population growth, agricultural production, natural cycles, and food distribution, and what a historical perspective suggests about the People's Republic of China's efforts to feed its population.

The article discusses the issue of government support for reclamation activities in the context of new challenges of the economic environment. The relevance of the issue is due to the need for intensive development of the agricultural sector caused by globalization processes, which have created fierce competition, both in the international and domestic food markets. Sustainable production of agricultural products on irrigated lands is one of the main indicators of the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex in areas of risky agriculture, including the Republic of Tatarstan. The purpose of the article is to develop recommendations for improving the efficiency of irrigated agriculture whose development depends on the stability of agricultural production and food security. The study aims to identify trends in the development of land reclamation at the regional level and substantiate measures aimed to improve the economic efficiency. The paper presents results of the analysis of development of land reclamation in the Republic of Tatarstan, identifies directions of its development, provides recommendations for ensuring sustainable growth in the volume of reclaimed land and agricultural products, income from the sale of products obtained through irrigation. The research results can be used to develop programs aimed at the development of federal and regional food markets, organizational, economic, technological measures to improve the efficiency of agricultural production, rural areas and the provision of high-quality food supply to the population.

The article provides a detailed analysis of the indicators of agricultural production in the regions of the Southern Federal District, identifies trends and directions in the development of the crop and livestock industries. The features of the leading districts that should become the basis of the agricultural strategy in the long term period are revealed. A system of measures that contribute to the improvement of food security in the Southern Federal District has been identified and the methods for their solution have been suggested. The main measure is government support, subsidizing and stimulation of the innovation process. The re-equipment of specialized industrial enterprises should be carried out at a high pace in the conditions of agri-food clusters and network interaction. The analysis of agricultural indicators of the district allows us to draw conclusions about the sufficient level of food security in several regions of the Southern Federal District which have high indicators of quantitative production and ensure a high level of consumption within the region, as well as allow increasing the export of certain product categories. Further development of scientific research in this area should be associated with the formation of areas for project financing of the agro-industrial complex and agriculture in the field of technological modernization, personnel policy, the acquisition of new management and production competencies, and the strengthening of the scientific potential of the crop and livestock industries.

With the uncontrollable population growth in the cities, the rising need for settlement has increased the needs of the cities, as well as making the cities consumption centres. The housing intensity of urbanization were damaged at first, then the farms and agricultural production areas in the city periphery, and then it directly affected the natural resources such as air, water, soil, flora, and fauna. However, nature did not remain unresponsive to these events and responded to human beings with various natural disasters. Eventually, the human violence on nature has turned into the abuse nature exerts on human beings, with disasters such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, and fire as a kind of revenge of nature. The future of humanity becomes dependent on reconciliation with nature and adaptation to a sustainable lifestyle. This chapter examines the violence between human nature and urbanization with its causes and possible consequences and offers reconciliation suggestions for a sustainable life.
