In 1995, a nearly complete collection of the annual reports of the earliest interstate and common carrier railroad in the U. S., the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O), was rediscovered in the archival collection at the Bruno Library of the University of Alabama. Dating from the company's inception in 1827 to its acquisition by the Chessie System in 1962, the reports present a unique opportunity for the exploration, study, and analysis of early U.S. corporate disclosure practice. This paper represents a study of the annual report information made publicly available by one of America's first railroads, and one of the first modern U.S. corporations. In this paper, early annual reports of the B&O which detail its formation, construction, and operation are catalogued as to content and evaluated. Mandated in the corporate charter, the annual “statement of affairs” presented by the management and directors to stockholders is studied as a process and as a product that instigated the institutional corporate practice recognized today as “annual reporting.” Using a single company methodology for assessment of reporting follows a pattern developed by Claire [1945] in his analysis of U.S. Steel and utilized by other researchers. This study demonstrates the use of archival information to improve understanding about the origins and contents of early annual reports and, therein, related disclosure forms.

As more academic and public libraries have some form of bibliographic description of their complete collection available in machine-readable form, public service librarians are devising ways to use the information for better retrieval. Research at the Ohio State University tested user response to paper and COM output from selected areas of the shelflist. Results indicated users at remote locations found such lists helpful, with some indication that paper printout was more popular than microfiche.

Background:Underexcretion of uric acid is the dominant mechanism leading to hyperuricemia [1] and the 24-hour urinary uric acid excretion is an important measurement. However, it is inconvenient due to accurate timing and complete collection of the specimen. Objectives:The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum uric acid to creatinine ratio (sUACR) and 24-hour urinary uric acid excretion in gout patients. Methods:A total of 110 gout patients fulfilling 2015 ACR/EULAR classification criteria from Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital from January 2019 to January 2021 were retrospectively enrolled in this study. Patients were divided into underexcretion group (<3600 μmol/24h) and non-underexcretion group (≥3600 μmol/24h). The correlation between sUACR and 24-hour urinary uric acid excretion was analyzed by the Pearson’s correlations analysis. Receiver operation characteristic (ROC) curves were performed to assess the utility of sUACR for discriminating between underexcretion group and non-underexcretion group. Furthermore, the risk factors of uric acid underexcretion were evaluated using binary logistic regression analysis. Results:sUACR in the underexcretion group was significantly lower than the non-underexcretion group (p=0.0001). Besides, sUACR was positively correlated with 24-hour urinary uric acid excretion (r=0.4833, p<0.0001). Furthermore, ROC suggested that the area under the curve (AUC) of sUACR was 0.728, which was higher that of serum uric acid and creatinine. The optimal cutoff point of sUACR was 5.2312, with a sensitivity and specificity of 71.9% and 67.9%. Logistic analysis results revealed that decreased sUACR (<5.2312) was an independent risk factor of underexcretion of uric acid (OR =5.510, 95% CI: 1.952-15.550, P=0.001).Conclusion:sUACR is lower in gout patients with underexcretion of uric acid and may serve as a useful and convenient marker of assessing underexcretion of uric acid in gout patients.References:[1]Perez-Ruiz F, Calabozo M, Erauskin GG, Ruibal A, Herrero-Beites AM. Abstract A large set of hourly meteorological data from seven towers deployed in Montesina Valley (Cordoba, Spain) is studied in relation to the prevailing synoptic situation. The complete collection of daily synoptic maps for 1985-90 has been classified in seven basic weather patterns. First-order transition probabilities and weatherpattern persistences have been calculated for each of the patterns. The behavior of the local valley wind field is described as a function of the synoptic patterns. The work reported here, based on observations of the characteristic time and space patterns of flow in the valley under different synoptic conditions, has made it possible to obtain a set of empirical rules and regression functions to produce forecasts of the local wind field as a function of the synoptic situation and the hour of the day to be used in the emergency plans. The result of this work is currently being implemented in an atmospheric dispersion module of an expert system that will be used as a tool to predict the evolution of accidental and routine hazardous emissions to the atmosphere in complex terrain such as valleys and coastal areas.

ABSTRACT  This study aims to describe the use of libraries in Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Elementary School Yogyakarta, including the presence of students in the library, student activities in the library, book collections in the library and services in the library. This study included qualitative descriptive research. Research subjects of principals, librarians, teachers and students. The object of this research is the use of school libraries. The validity of the data in this study uses data source triangulation and technique triangulation. The technique of collecting data through interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Hubermen models which include data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the library at SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Yogyakarta in its utilization was very good. The use of the library is realized so that the library becomes the most important part of its existence in the school environment. In the use of libraries in SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Yogyakarta is seen from a complete collection of books, high numbers of student visits to libraries, utilization of library space for activities in teaching and learning processes, libraries are comfortable places for students to do assignments and libraries are a solution for students to borrow books when needing references when learning is taking place. In the use of the library, students are also helped by a good library service. This chapter traces the history of the Russian treaty from its inception during the Kievan Rus to Soviet applications of the instrument. The precise origins of the "treaty" in Kievan practice has not been determined. However, it was from this early period that concepts such as treaty ratifications and "confirmation" were conceived in early Russian law. From there, the chapter follows Russian treaties through post-medieval times, including the inclusion of international treaties within the 1825 Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire. The chapter also takes a look at the so-called "internal treaties," by examining the differences between "international" treaties and "constitutional" treaties given Russia's historic borders and its relationships with neighboring states. Finally, the chapter outlines Soviet treaty policy and its doctrinal philosophies.
