Classification and Regression Tree (CART) analysis is a potentially powerful tool for identifying risk factors associated with contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP) and the important interactions between them. Our objective was therefore to determine the seroprevalence and identify the risk factors associated with CCPP using CART data mining modeling in the most densely sheep- and goat-populated governorates. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 620 animals (390 sheep, 230 goats) distributed over four governorates in the Nile Delta of Egypt in 2019. The randomly selected sheep and goats from different geographical study areas were serologically tested for CCPP, and the animals’ information was obtained from flock men and farm owners. Six variables (geographic location, species, flock size, age, gender, and communal feeding and watering) were used for risk analysis. Multiple stepwise logistic regression and CART modeling were used for data analysis. A total of 124 (20%) serum samples were serologically positive for CCPP. The highest prevalence of CCPP was between aged animals (>4 y; 48.7%) raised in a flock size ≥200 (100%) having communal feeding and watering (28.2%). Based on logistic regression modeling (area under the curve, AUC = 0.89; 95% CI 0.86 to 0.91), communal feeding and watering showed the highest prevalence odds ratios (POR) of CCPP (POR = 3.7, 95% CI 1.9 to 7.3), followed by age (POR = 2.1, 95% CI 1.6 to 2.8) and flock size (POR = 1.1, 95% CI 1.0 to 1.2). However, higher-accuracy CART modeling (AUC = 0.92, 95% CI 0.90 to 0.95) showed that a flock size >100 animals is the most important risk factor (importance score = 8.9), followed by age >4 y (5.3) followed by communal feeding and watering (3.1). Our results strongly suggest that the CCPP is most likely to be found in animals raised in a flock size >100 animals and with age >4 y having communal feeding and watering. Additionally, sheep seem to have an important role in the CCPP epidemiology. The CART data mining modeling showed better accuracy than the traditional logistic regression.

Young people’s consumption of alcohol is an ongoing problem. Many young adults binge-drink alcohol excessively, with serious negative consequences thereafter. This preliminary research assessed risk factors associated with alcohol consumption, drinking problems and related consequences among university students. The study was carried out on a total of 1056 students from UASVM Cluj-Napoca, Romania. University students claimed altered states of health after drinking episodes: vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness (43.1%), forgetfulness after drinking (3.1%). Furthermore, students who drank over the limit reported physical and violence-related problems (2.7%) and were more likely to develop risky behaviors, like driving under the influence of alcohol (13.9%) or car accidents (0.2%). The participants in the study were not heavy social drinkers, 50.9% of the respondents reported no consequences after drinking alcohol.

University-based sexual aggression is an international public health issue; however, to date, there have been no formal assessments of the prevalence or psychological indicators associated with the proabuse behaviors of the most common perpetrators at UK universities: heterosexual male students. To facilitate the development of effective primary prevention interventions for domestic students who have sexually harmed, we assess across two empirical studies ( Ns = 259 and 295) the psychological risk factors associated with recent sexual aggression amongst two distinct samples of UK male university students. Cumulatively, results highlighted that one in nine participants (11.4%) self-reported recent sexual aggression. These participants could be statistically differentiated from their non-offending peers on various established indicators of general sexual offending, of which logistic regression analyses highlighted atypical sexual fantasies, general aggression, hostility toward women, and rape myth acceptance as being the most reliable predictors. Our data extend the international evidence base by providing the first detailed overview of sexual aggression amongst UK male university students, as well as the psychological risk factors associated with their proabuse behaviors. We discuss the importance of our findings for the development of more effective evidence-based reduction strategies and primary prevention interventions for male students who have sexually harmed.

В статье рассматривается проблема факторов риска возникновения и развития интернет-зависимости у студентов. Актуальность исследования обусловлена противоречием между большим количеством средовых факторов риска интернет-зависимости, выделенных зарубежными авторами, и фактическим отсутствием эмпирической проверки значимости многих из них для российских студентов в современных условиях пандемии COVID-19. Цель исследования состояла в выявлении и сравнительном анализе факторов риска, относящихся к семейной и образовательной среде и обусловливающих проявление интернет-зависимости у студентов вузов в современных реалиях. Интернет-зависимость измерялась с помощью 6-пунктовой авторской психодиагностической шкалы. Факторы семейной и образовательной среды определялись с помощью 31-пунктовой авторской анкеты. Выборка включила 145 студентов российских вузов в возрасте от 18 до 35 лет. Установлено, что определенные факторы риска, оказывающие статистически значимое влияние на рост интернет-зависимости есть и в семейной, и в образовательной среде. Вместе с тем в образовательной среде подобных факторов риска выявлено больше, а их влияние зачастую является более сильным. Однако среди факторов риска образовательной среды наиболее значимыми являются те, которые связаны не с преподавателями вуза, а с предметной средой (недостаточная благоустроенность вуза) и частью субъектной, представленной именно студентами. Полученные результаты обосновывают целесообразность продолжения исследования в направлении расширения изучаемых конкретных средовых факторов риска интернет-зависимости. The article treats risk factors associated with the development of internet addiction in students. The relevance of the research is accounted for by a huge gap between a great number of environment-related risk factors singled out by foreign scholars and a lack of empirical research into the relevance of the aforementioned factors for Russian students in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the research is to single out and comparatively analyze risk factors associated with family influence and the impact of learning environments on the development of internet addiction in university students in the modern world. Internet addiction is measured on a 6-point psychodiagnostic scale proposed by the authors. Risk factors associated with family influence and the impact of learning environments on the development of internet addiction in university students is measured on a 31-point scale proposed by the authors. The subjects of the research are 145 students of Russian universities (aged 18–35). The investigation shows that there are certain risk factors that have a significant influence on the development of internet addiction, these factors are associated both with family influence and the impact of learning environments. The influence of learning environments is discovered to be greater than that of family environment. However, the most pronounced risks discovered in learning environments are not associated with academic staff but with uncomfortable and under-equipped learning spaces and hostility of other students. The obtained results substantiate the feasibility of further research aimed at the investigation of specific environment-related risk factors associated with internet addiction.
