During heat treatment of machine parts and tools, besides the usual task of ensuring a high complex of mechanical and operational properties, there is a problem of distortion of products in the process of heat treatment and the need for editing operations (which are carried out manually and require significant labor costs). The known methods do not solve the problem of removing distortion for thin-walled parts of the ring shape completely. This paper shows the technical possibility of using the energy of a constant magnetic field for the "internal" straightening of products during heat treatment in the temperature range of super-plasticity of transformation. The use of special equipment makes it possible to eliminate virtually the distortion of thin-walled parts of the ring shape and to improve their mechanical properties.

The influence of the architecture of multilayer metal-carbon coatings, the nature of individual metallic layers (Ti, Cu), heat treatment parameters on their microhardness, the level of internal stresses and tribotechnical properties are determined. It is defined that for systems based on carbon and nanosized metal layers, the friction coefficient values are lower than for single-layer carbon coatings. Heat treatment of multilayer systems in air leads to the increase in the friction coefficient, primarily Ti/a-C/Ti coatings, which is due to the formation of solid phases of TiN, TiC and TiCN, as well as oxides of TixOy acting as abrasive. The level of internal stresses of multilayer systems containing layers of copper is lower than that of single-layer carbon coatings and coatings containing layers of titanium.

The purpose of this paper is to present the microstructure and mechanical behavior of 6060 aluminum alloy after intense plastic deformation. Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) was used as a method of severe plastic deformation. Before ECAP part of the samples were heat treated to remove internal stresses in the commercially available aluminium alloy. The evolution of microstructure and tensile strength were tested after 1, 3, 6 and 9 ECAP passes in annealed and non annealed states. It was found that intensely plastically deformed refined grains were present in the tested samples and exhibited increased mechanical properties. Differences were noted between samples without and after heat treatment

This paper presents the results of tribological tests performed on a T-11 pin-on-disc type, which made it possible to determine the intensity of abrasive wear of steel 20MnCr5 subjected to selected thermo-chemical heat treatments. The tested steel, after the hardening and tempering process, is characterized by high endurance parameters and is used on heavily loaded machine parts. It is frequently used for elements subjected to intense abrasion. The analysis involved the following: carburizing, boronizing, and various methods of diffusion chromizing. For large loads, it is advisable to apply boronizing or carburizing with hardening. Chrome plating entails a very thin layer of increased hardness, which is characterised by a low abrasive wear resistance at high loads.
