Children who use cochlear implants experience significant difficulty hearing speech in the presence of background noise, such as in the classroom. To address these difficulties, audiologists often recommend frequency-modulated (FM) systems for children with cochlear implants. The purpose of this article is to examine current empirical research in the area of FM systems and cochlear implants. Discussion topics will include selecting the optimal type of FM receiver, benefits of binaural FM-system input, importance of DAI receiver-gain settings, and effects of speech-processor programming on speech recognition. FM systems significantly improve the signal-to-noise ratio at the child's ear through the use of three types of FM receivers: mounted speakers, desktop speakers, or direct-audio input (DAI). This discussion will aid audiologists in making evidence-based recommendations for children using cochlear implants and FM systems.

Background: Numerous studies indicate that statins have multiple beneficial actions (known as ‘pleiotropic actions') on cardiovascular system through the improvement of endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, oxidative stress, excessive arterial thrombosis, and stabilization of the atherosclerotic plaque. Aortic disease primarily consists of aortic valve stenosis, aortic valve regurgitation, aneurysm disease, and genetic disorders such as Marfan syndrome, bicuspid aortic valve and aortic coarctation. Many studies have revealed the cardioprotective actions of statins in aortic disease.

Objective: Our aim was to present current data concerning the value of treatment with statins in aortic diseases.

Methods: A thorough search of PubMed and the Cochrane Database was conducted to identify the studies and novel articles related to the use of statins in aortic disease.

Results: Numerous studies in animals and humans indicate a beneficial effect of treatment with statins in the previous conditions apart from a few conflicting data.

Conclusion: There is a need of further investigation in this field, especially for the estimation of the optimal type and dose of statins required in each clinical condition of aortic disease.

Surveys performed nationwide show that mobile temporary accommodation camps are being manufactured by more than 200 specialized enterprises (without considering the minor manufacturers) acting under different ministries and agencies. According to the analysis performed, today 26 basic mobile structural systems consisting of 18 conveyor-type and 8 demountable-type systems are being used on a national basis. Today national manufacturers are producing more than 250 types of container-type buildings and facilities which differ in functionality, capacity, climatic category, price and other technical-and-economic indexes. Use of mobile accommodation complexes is characterized by certain advantages. Basic criterion for mobile accommodation camp construction consists in its timely commissioning. Basic predicted indexes affecting the cost of temporary accommodation camp could serve as an endorsement of the forwarded standpoint.

In this paper, we construct the Möbius domain wall fermions (MDWFs) in the Schrödinger functional (SF) scheme for the SU(3) gauge theory by adding a boundary operator at the temporal boundary of the SF scheme setup. Using perturbation theory, we investigate the properties of several constructed MDWFs, including the optimal type domain wall, overlap, truncated domain wall, and truncated overlap fermions. We observe the universality of the spectrum of the effective four-dimensional operator at the tree-level, and fermionic contribution to the universal one-loop beta function is reproduced for MDWFs with a sufficiently large fifth-dimensional extent.

The production possibility of protective films of higher carboxylic (lauric, stearic (SA), oleic and linolenic) acids on a laser-textured surface of an aluminum alloy D16 is discussed. It is shown that such a modification leads to superhydrophobization (SHP) of the alloy surface. The most optimal type of laser processing has been determined: laser power is 12 W and the pass speed is 1000 mm / s. Profilometric measurements determined the average size of surface irregularities which is 6,47 microns. The degradation results of the SHP state in an aqueous solution of 0,05 M NaCl indicate greater stability of films formed from SA solutions. The protective ability of the coatings was evaluated by polarization measurements and corrosion tests in a salt chamber. It was found that films formed from an SA solution had the best anticorrosive properties. According to polarization measurements, an increase in ΔEpt = 220 mV, and the time of the first corrosion damage appears τcor = 384 h.

In the context of clinical trials for comparing two treatments, a new class of covariate adjusted response adaptive procedures is developed to achieve a balance between clinical optimality and inferential precision. Assuming normally distributed responses, several exact and asymptotic properties are studied and compared with a reasonable alternative under the presence of treatment covariate interaction.
