Abstract We investigate the effects of field temperature T(f) on the entanglement harvesting between two uniformly accelerated detectors. For their parallel motion, the thermal nature of fields does not produce any entanglement, and therefore, the outcome is the same as the non-thermal situation. On the contrary, T(f) affects entanglement harvesting when the detectors are in anti-parallel motion, i.e., when detectors A and B are in the right and left Rindler wedges, respectively. While for T(f) = 0 entanglement harvesting is possible for all values of A’s acceleration aA, in the presence of temperature, it is possible only within a narrow range of aA. In (1 + 1) dimensions, the range starts from specific values and extends to infinity, and as we increase T(f), the minimum required value of aA for entanglement harvesting increases. Moreover, above a critical value aA = ac harvesting increases as we increase T(f), which is just opposite to the accelerations below it. There are several critical values in (1 + 3) dimensions when they are in different accelerations. Contrary to the single range in (1 + 1) dimensions, here harvesting is possible within several discrete ranges of aA. Interestingly, for equal accelerations, one has a single critical point, with nature quite similar to (1 + 1) dimensional results. We also discuss the dependence of mutual information among these detectors on aA and T(f).

Abstract The UK copyright law regime presents the right to adapt as the sole, authoritative instrument in matters of legitimising translation; a legal “Big Other” conferring an otherwise unreal objective commodity status on what are instead always only ever individual and subjective acts of translation. Drawing primarily on the work of Theo Hermans, and the experiences of poet Jack Underwood in unsuccessfully attempting to formally translate poems by Mascha Kaléko, this article argues for (a) the development and (at the very least) implicit recognition of deviationist and subversive translative replies within – or at the very least alongside – the traditional UK legal schema and (b) a softening of the UK right to adapt by application of the integrity moral right to translations. In addition, a deeper quasi-Ungerian notion of institutional change that accommodates both principles (e. g. legitimate translations can, of course, be argued to exist, to which copyright accords) and counterprinciples (there are also, however, in the long term only multiple acts of translation, some preferred and commoditized, some existing outside that sphere, less functional and more creative/expressive but no less important and not to be prevented for those reasons) can also be advanced. Finally, a much broader critical point regarding the nature and role (or non-role) of law in the context of creative practices more generally can also be presented.

The role of humoral factors in cell–cell interactions was studied in a simple model system: the aggregation of erythrocytes into cylindrical rouleaux when suspended in normal serum preheated at 62 °C for 20 min. The rouleaugenic activity of heated serum was associated with an increased concentration of albumin polymers. On heating above 62 °C, albumin released ligands, such as lysophosphatidylcholine, in quantities sufficient to convert erythrocytes to acanthocytes. The latter did not participate in rouleaux formation. Thus normal serum only became rouleaugenic when heated over a narrow range of temperatures. These properties of serum were reproduced in a system consisting only of erythrocytes, heated albumin, and lysophosphatidylcholine. Rouleau formation increased as albumin polymer size increased. Unheated normal serum could also be made rouleaugenic merely by concentrating to above normal physiological concentrations. Unheated, unconcentrated, sera from patients with various diseases are known to be rouleaugenic, but polymeric albumin appears infrequently in such sera; usually there are increases in macroglobulins or large polymeric forms of smaller serum proteins. Current evidence is consistent with the hypothesis that a small shift in the concentration of one or more of these macromolecules above a critical value promotes a phase separation of erythrocytes which spontaneously aggregate to form rouleaux.

Proper irrigation management is critical to conserve and protect water resources and to properly manage nutrients in the home landscape. How lawns and landscapes are irrigated directly impacts the natural environment, so landscape maintenance professionals and homeowners must adopt environmentally-friendly approaches to irrigation management. After selecting the right plant for the right place, water is the next critical factor to establish and maintain a healthy lawn and landscape. Fertilization is another important component of lawn and landscape maintenance, and irrigation must be applied correctly, especially following fertilization, to minimize potential nutrient losses. This publication supplements other UF/IFAS Extension publications that also include information on the role of soil and the root zone in irrigation management. This publication is designed to help UF/IFAS Extension county agents prepare materials to directly address nutrient losses from lawns and landscapes caused by inadequate irrigation management practices. In the submitted study the problem of the formation of financial literacy of students at informatics lessons and relevant training of future informatics teachers is considered. Financial literacy is understood as a set of basic knowledge in the field of finance, banking, insurance, as well as budgeting for personal finances that allow a person to choose the right financial product or service, soberly assess and take risks that may arise during the use of these products, correctly accumulate savings and identify doubtful (fraudulent) investment schemes. The authors conclude that successful development of meaningful lines of the course of financial literacy requires integration of a few school subjects, such as mathematics, history, informatics, social science and literature. The role of modern informatics teacher in the formation of financial literacy of students is great. Therefore, in the training of a future informatics teacher, it should be paid the attention to issues related to the study of elements of financial literacy in informatics lessons. In order to solve the problem, the authors propose to use the special course “Basics of work in 1С:Enterprise”, which is implemented at Penza State University. The article contains a program of the course and the methodological recommendations for its implementation.

How can a supreme audit institution (SAI) use design thinking in auditing? SAIs audit the way taxpayers’ money is collected and spent. Adding design thinking to their activities is not to be taken lightly. SAIs independently check whether public organizations have done the right things in the right way, but the organizations might not be willing to act upon a SAI’s recommendations. Can you imagine the role of design in audits? In this paper we share our experiences of some design approaches in the work of one SAI: the Netherlands Court of Audit (NCA). Design thinking needs to be adapted (Dorst, 2015a) before it can be used by SAIs such as the NCA in order to reflect their independent, autonomous status. To dive deeper into design thinking, Buchanan’s design framework (2015) and different ways of reasoning (Dorst, 2015b) are used to explore how design thinking can be adapted for audits.
