AbstractAutonomous capabilities are required in AmI environments in order to adapt systems to new environmental conditions and situations. However, keeping the human in the loop and in control of such systems is still necessary because of the diversity of systems, domains, environments, context situations, and social and legal constraints, which makes full autonomy a utopia within the short or medium term. Human-system integration introduces an important number of challenges and problems that have to be solved. On the one hand, humans should interact with systems even in those situations where their attentional, cognitive, and physical resources are limited in order to perform the interaction. On the other hand, systems must avoid overwhelming the user with unnecessary actions. Therefore, appropriate user-centered methods for AmI development should be used to help designers analyze and design human-in-the-loop interactions in AmI environments. This paper presents a user-centered design method that defines a process with a set of tools and techniques that supports the process steps in order to systematically design, prototype, and validate human-in-the-loop (HiL) solutions. The process starts with the definition of the HiL design, which defines how the system cooperates with the human. This HiL design is built using a conceptual framework that focuses on achieving human-system interactions that get human attention and avoid obtrusiveness. Then, we provide a software infrastructure to generate a prototype based on the HiL design and validate it by having end-users use a web simulator. The feedback data generated during the prototype user validation is gathered and used by a machine learning tool that infers the user’s needs and preferences. Finally, these inferences are used to automatically enhance the human-in-the-loop designs and prototypes. We have validated the proposed method through a twofold perspective: an experiment to analyze the perception of interaction designers regarding their acceptance of the design method and another experiment to evaluate the usefulness of the “smart” prototyping technique. The results obtained point out the acceptability of the proposed method by designers and the useful adaptations provided by the “smart” prototyping technique to achieve a HiL design that adapts well to users’ preferences and needs.

The problem in marketing department in this company do not have promotion media for offer the products to consumer, no online sell, and order only by phone. To solve the problem in marketing department is build up e-commerce system. E-commerce system use Unifed Modelling Languange (UML); Activity Diagram, Use Case Diagram, Sequence Diagram, and Class Diagram. User Centered Design (UCD) as design method. Program language for e-commerce system is PHP and MySQL for database. The result of research is a e-commerce system website base to help search information product, company could get report easier, consumer can do purchase by online everywhere and everytime.

Anyelir Cake And Bakery is the largest cake shop in Purwakarta which is engaged in the production of various kinds of cakes.  In the process of distributing products from the central store to branch stores, they still use WhatsApp to place orders. This causes frequent discrepancies in the number of products requested and the number of products received due to an error in reading the message. In this study, a mobile-based application will be built that is able to manage order data more accurately. The development of this application uses the User Centered Design (UCD). This is a design method that focuses on user needs so that the final result of this application does not need to change user behavior when using the application. The UCD method consists of four stages, namely plan the human centered design, specify user and organizational requirements, product design solutions, and evaluate design against user requirements. In the development process, application testing was carried out to get feedback from users with good scores, namely an average of 4 (agree) and 5 (strongly agree). This shows that the application is in accordance with the needs of the user.

Design of computer-based non-pharmacological cognitive healthcare interventions for people afflicted by chronic neurodegenerative impairments must be soundly informed by and clearly centered on users’ distinctive disabilities. In this article we present a use-oriented analysis of those cognitive interventions intended for healthcare of patients with Alzheimer’s dementia and related disorders that use human-computer interaction based on virtual reality technology. The analysis identifies the most important strengths and weakness, and describes and assesses the main key opportunities and challenges inherent to the use of this type of cognitive healthcare interventions. The most critical specific usability concerns that considerably affect these interventions are described in order to be directly addressed during a user-centered design process. Significant evaluation issues that still trouble these interventions’ general acceptance are also included. On the basis of this analysis, appropriate actions are recommended to help minimize accessibility and usability issues. Finally, concrete design guidelines, and a framework with its road map are proposed to direct the design process. The proposed framework’s more outstanding features and functionalities are described in relation to user-centered design conceptualization, implementation and assessment. The use of a consistent user-centered design methodology, such as the one proposed here to tackle the main critical obstacles, could turn out to become the key that allows to achieve a substantial improvement of VR-based cognitive healthcare interventions effectiveness.

The use of the Android platform for software / application development is not only easier to use, because Android that has flexibility is a reason. Rendang Daging is a typical food of the city of Padang, besides it tastes savory and has a taste that is very different from other processed foods, which makes the food rendang a favorite of many people around the world. It is unfortunate if only rendang is the favorite processed food menu, while in Indonesia there are still many processed menus that are very tasty and special. Information about the menu of typical Indonesian processed foods will be much better known and desirable when given a place to exchange information about these things in the form of information systems. To get an information system that meets user expectations, special methods are needed. (UCD) is a User-Centered Design method which is a user-oriented method. UCD design is used to provide benefits to support the information system for people from home and abroad so that it will be more attractive for foreign and domestic tourists to visit Indonesia for a vacation or just want to enjoy the typical food of the archipelago. In addition, it can also help the system of selling processed foods typical of the archipelago.
