Bentonite was modified through pillarization with metal oxide Cr/Al in 2:1 and 1:2 ratio to obtain larger basal spacing of bentonite-layered structure. Pillarization was conducted via intercalation method at room temperature followed by calcination. The result was characterized by using XRD and FT-IR Spectrophotometer. XRD pattern shown pillarization by Cr/Al 2:1 ratio gave peak at 2θ 5.3° which is correspond to d = 16.4 Å. At 1:2 Cr/Al ratio, peak appears at 2θ 6.4° that is related to d = 13.7 Å. FTIR Spectroscopy measurement gave inconclusive result. The Cr/Al pillared bentonite at 2:1 ratio was applied as adsorbent on Congo red and Direct blue dyes. The result indicates the adsorption follows Freundlich isotherm. Adsorption rate for both dyes follows pseudo-second order with rate constant of pillared bentonite higher than natural one. Adsorption isotherm concludes that Freundlich isotherm is favorable compare to Langmuir. Thermodynamic evaluation suggests that isotherm occurs spontaneously in an exothermic process.

SummaryA study of the removal of I131-labeled Congo red from the blood of amyloid, non-amyloid, multiple myeloma, rheumatoid arthritis and other patients is presented. The percentage removal of the labeled dye shows the same variation reported by many other workers using Bennhold’s test and its modifications. However, there seems to be a positive correlation between the percentage removal of the labeled dye and the presence of amyloid as revealed by biopsy and autopsy. The half-time of disappearance is also correlated with the amyloidosis. The availability of the I131-labeled dye permits the use of very small weights of the dye thereby drastically reducing the possibility of toxic and sometimes fatal reactions encountered with the unlabeled dye. The I131 present permits easy quantitation of the dye in the blood without separation of plasma and obviates the need of fasting. It also permits external counting and scanning of deposits in the organs containing the dye.The availability and use of the labeled dye may stimulate more comparative studies of the removal of the dye from the blood correlated with biopsy and autopsy findings.

SummaryIn rabbits and cats Congo red administered intravenously causes severe thrombocytopenia and ultrastructural alterations of platelets and leucocytes, similar to those produced by some fatty acids and endotoxin. Transient leucopenia is followed by leucocytosis. In contrast, incubation of Congo red in citrated blood or platelet rich plasma has no effect. Therefore, an indirect mechanism is postulated to explain the in vivo effect of Congo red.

Cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) were prepared by cellulase in conjunction with mechanical disintegration from the bleached softwood kraft pulp and labelled by Congo red dye. The labelled CNF were used to investigate the retention and distribution of CNF in paper handsheets. The retention of the labelled CNF was obtained by measuring the absorbance of white water using an ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer. The results showed that this method for measuring the retention was rapid, feasible, and sensitive, owing to the high correlation coefficient R2 (0.9993) of the standard curve. The labelled CNF showed even distribution in paper handsheets. The colorimetric values of paper handsheets were explored with a residual ink analyzer.

Filipendula ulmaria (L.) Maxim. (Meadowsweet) is known in traditional medicine as anti-inflammatory, wound-healing,astringent and antibacterial remedy. However recent studies show that it also has neurotropic activity. In Russia meadowsweet flowers are used as crude herbal drugs (temporary pharmacopoeial monograph 42-1777-87), also leafs and herb are used in the traditional medicine. Objective of the study was to carry out comparative investigation of composition and content of major biologically active compounds (BAC) in Filipendula ulmaria herb, flowers and leafs by thin-layer chromatography, differential spectrophotometry with aluminum chloride reagent (total flavonoids in terms of rutoside), gravimetry (total extractives, extracted by water), permanganatometric titration (total tannins in terms of tannin). Rutoside, tannin, gallic acid and salicylic acid were identified in Filipendula ulmaria herb, flowers and leafs by TLC. Also we analyzed content of substances extracted by water, flavonoids and tannins. Total extractives, extracted by water in F. ulmaria herb is 13.12±0.10%, in leafs – 13.98±0.37%, in flowers – 18.09±0.17%. Total tannins in F. ulmaria herb is 11.87±0.47%, in leafs – 12.06±0.18%, in flowers – 12.26±0.29%. Total flavonoids in F. ulmaria herb 4.34±0.17%, in leafs – 6.98±0.23%, in flowers – 11.75±0.57%. The obtained data will be used for development of a pharmacopoeial monograph project "Filipendula ulmaria (L.) Maxim., herba" for inclusion in the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation.

The study included 200 samples were collected   from   children  under two   years included (50 samples from each of Cerebrospinal fluid, Blood, Stool and Urine) from, Central Children Hospital and Children's Protections Educational Hospital. Isolates bacterial were obtained cultural, microscopic and biochemical examination and diagnosed to the species by using vitek2 system. The results showed there were contamination in 6.5% of clinical samples. The diagnosed colonies which gave pink color on the MacConkey agar , golden yellow color on the Trypton Soy agar and green color on the Birillent Enterobacter sakazakii agar and gave  a probability of 99% in the vitek 2 and were identified as Cronobacter sakazakii. The identification revealed of thirteen isolates: 6(46.16%) isolated from Cerebrospinal fluid samples, 7(53.84%) isolated from blood samples and not isolated bacteria from stool and urine samples. The results of the investigation of some virulence factors showed that all bacteria isolates were able to swimming with a diameter ranging (1-9 mm) and swarming with a diameter ranging (1-40 mm) and their  ability to biofilm formation  by using three methods. The results show the ability  of  isolates to form biofilm by using  Congo red media  methods where it is 12 (92.30 %) out of 13 isolated bacteria belonging to C. sakazakii  able to form biofilm on the Congo red media  which is 3 (23.07%) were  strong production  biofilm ,   8 (61.53%)  were intermediate  production  biofilm and  1 (7.69% ) were weak  biofilm formation , while the 1 (7.69%)  unable to form biofilm.  Tubes method were all isolates were able to form biofilm, it were found that 3 (23.07%)  isolates strong, and 8 (61.53%) intermediate  and 2( 15.38%)  weak biofilm formation. Microtiter plate method  gave 5 (38.46 %) isolates strong, 6 (46.15%) intermediate and 1 (7.69%) weak biofilm formation.

The comparative investigation results of AD33 aluminum alloy welded joint quality dependence upon changes in a laser beam motion rate for conditions of hand and automatic laser welding are shown. A micro-structure of a welded joint at the hand and automatic laser welding of the AD33 alloy is investigated.
