AbstractThe well-being of young people in relation to their school performance has received increased attention in recent years. However, there is a lack of knowledge about the longitudinal and reciprocal relationship between adolescents’ subjective well-being and their academic achievements. The current study examined the bidirectional relationship between subjective well-being and academic achievement across two timepoints (T1 and T2) during the course of mid to late adolescence, i.e., in school year 9 (age 15), and school years 11–12 (ages 17–18). The study also investigated variation in the association as a function of adolescent gender. Data on subjective well-being and teacher-assigned school grades of 723 adolescents (48.7% girls) residing in Sweden were analyzed by estimating a series of cross-lagged path models. The findings suggest gender differences in the relationship as no associations were found among boys. Support for a bidirectional relationship between the constructs was only found for girls. For girls, higher subjective well-being at T1 was associated with higher academic achievements at T2, while higher academic achievements at T1 was associated with lower subjective well-being at T2. These findings highlight that the subjective well-being of adolescent girls may be important for their ability to perform at school, but their academic achievements may also inflict negatively on their subjective well-being.

The article delivers results of an empirical study aimed at revealing specific relationship between conscious self-regulation of educational activity, subjective well-being, and academic performance of the younger schoolchildren (N = 156). Diagnostics included assessment of the regulatory processes, intrapersonal-regulatory features (“Self-regulation of the Learning Activity Questionnaire”, Morosanova, 2015) and certain aspects of the students’ life satisfaction (“Multidimensional Children’s Life Satisfaction Scale”, Sytchev et al. , 2018) as well as collecting data on their academic performance. It was found that schoolchildren’ subjective well-being level has closer ties with their level of conscious self-regulation development than with academic performance indicators. The data analysis has also confirmed the reciprocal relationship between subjective well-being and academic achievement in primary schoolchildren. Structural modeling allowed for evaluating the models of cause-effect relationships between the learning activity self-regulation, school well-being, and academic performance in primary school age. It is shown that indicators of self-regulation and subjective well-being explain a greater percentage of the variance in the students’ academic achievement than self-regulation and achievement — in the variance of subjective well-being in the primary schoolchildren.

                In this study, it is aimed to determine and evaluate the relationship between the subjective well-being levels of the university students and their academic achievement according to various variables. The study group consisted of 600 students from various faculties of Samsun 19 Mayıs University. Subjective Well-being Scale developed by Tuzgöl-Dost (2004) and academic achievement scores prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools. The subjective well-being scale, which consists of 46 items, aims to measure the subjective well-being of individuals. Students' academic achievement scores were obtained with personal information form. In the study, simple regression analysis was performed to examine the predictive power of subjective well-being on academic achievement. According to the results of the regression analysis, subjective well-being significantly predicted positively (β = .330, t = 54.704, p <.01) and 5% of the variance in subjective well-being scores. According to these results, as the subjective well-being of the participants increased, their academic achievement levels increased. The level of subjective well-being of the students differed according to the number of faculty and the number of siblings they studied. These findings were discussed in the light of the literature and suggestions for practitioners and researchers were presented.   Keywords: Faculty, level of well-being, subjective well-being, university students;

The results of numerous studies indicate that besides intellectual abilities, personality features figure as the strongest predictors of academic achievement. This research is aimed at exploring the relationship between personality features and academic achievement in secondary school students, as well as at testing whether academic achievement is one of the mechanisms suitable for explaining the relationship between personality features and the subjective well-being of students. The research included 408 students, with the average age of 16 years and 6 months. The results indicate that in both girls and boys a significant predictor of academic achievement is only the feature of conscientiousness. However, in conscientious students, higher academic achievement does not yield higher satisfaction with school and life, nor more frequent experiencing of pleasant emotions. Academic achievement is neither connected with openness towards experience nor with curiosity. The paper discusses practical implications of these findings and offers suggestions for future research.

Organizational Justice has the potential to create major impact on organizations and employees alike. These include greater commitment, trust, enhanced job performance, more citizenship behaviors and less number of conflicts. It has been reported that employees seem to have a universal concern for Justice that transcends the self and that many are subject to biases at various point of time in their work life. Sometimes these biases lead to adverse outcomes including decreased level of subjective well-being. Subjective well-being is a broad category that includes life satisfaction, positive affect, and low negative affect, such as anger, sadness and fear. Thus to study the relationship between Organizational justice and subjective well-being, a sample of 88 employees working in Private Universities of NCR region were examined. For this purpose, the Organizational Justice scales consisting of Measure of Procedural & Interactional Justice and Distributive Justice Index scale by Moorman, Blakely & Niehoff (1998) and Subjective Wellbeing Scales inclusive of the Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS),Scale of Positive and Negative Experience(SPANE) and Flourishing Scale (FS) by Ed Diener (2004)were used. Results indicate significant relationship between the three types of Organizational justice and subjective well-being of employees.

Objective - Individual work performance (IWP) has been researched time and time again in the past few decades. Interestingly enough, existing research on IWP focuses mainly on the area of work production and lacks an in-depth holistic understanding of IWP and other interrelated work behaviours. In this study, IWP is explored in the context of a multidimensional construct that includes the dimensions of task, contextual, and counterproductive behaviours. The purpose of this research is to investigate whether the three variables of work engagement (WE), psychological empowerment (PE), and subjective well-being (SWB) mediate and correlate with the relationship between perceived organisational support (POS) and IWP. Methodology/Technique - 780 employees from 4 organisations in Jakarta were selected to participate in this study. The respondents were tasked with responding to five questionnaires including (1) IWP of Koopmans, (2) POS of Eisenberger, (3) SWB of Diener, (4) WE of Baker and Schaufeli, (5) PE of Spreitzer. The data was analysed using structural equation modelling. Findings - The results show that the proposed structural model aligns with the empirical data [X2 (0, N = 780) = 0, p = 1.000; RMSEA=.000]. This research concludes that the relationship between POS and IWP is best mediated by either WE, PE or SWB. Among the three mediators, WE plays the greatest role in mediating the relationship between POS and IWP. Novelty - These findings expand on previous research on the weak relationship between POS and IWP. Type of Paper - Empirical.
