Pesquisa sobre o Estado do Conhecimento de caráter bibliográfico – documental. Referencial teórico: André et al (1999); Ferreira (2002); Romanowski; Ens, 2006. Objetiva analisar a produção acadêmica sobre socioeducação para Adolescentes em Conflito com a Lei no Brasil. Realizada no Banco de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), discutindo as diferenças e ausências produzidas nas teses e dissertações. Resultando em 53 dissertações de mestrado e 06 teses de doutorado, totalizando 59 trabalhos entre 1994 a 2016.Palavra-chave: Mapeamento. Adolescente em Conflito com a Lei. It aims to analyze the academic production on socio-education for Adolescents in Conflict with the Law. It was carried out in the thesis and dissertations bank of the Coordination for Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), discussing the differences and absences produced in theses and dissertations. RESUMENLa universidad ecuatoriana, en los últimos seis años, a partir de la aprobación en el año 2010 de la Ley Orgánica de Educación Superior, ha sido expuesta a nuevos retos y desafíos que comprometen a cada uno de los tejidos institucionales participantes en su gestión. Este artículo analiza siete de esos retos en el marco de la ley, de la reflexión epistemológica y las metas que se le plantean como sistema sustancial en el cambio de la matriz cognitiva, productiva y de servicio del país. Los resultados son reflexiones propias de actores del sistema educativo superior que se desenvuelven en diferentes planos de intervención, quienes proponen acciones inmediatas y mediatas para alcanzar una Universidad adaptable a la Era de la Complejidad.Palabras clave: Sistema de Educación Superior, Era de la Complejidad, Ley Orgánica de Educación Superior. Challenges of Higher Education System in Ecuador for the Age of ComplexityABSTRACTIn the last six years since the adoption of the Law on Higher Education in 2010, the Ecuadorian university has been exposed to new challenges compromising every institution participating in its management. This article analyzes seven of those challenges within the Law framework, the epistemological reflection and the goals presented as substantial in changing the cognitive, productive and service matrix in the country. The results are reflections by actors in the higher education system working at different levels of intervention, who propose immediate and mediate actions to achieve a University adaptive to the Age of Complexity.Keywords: Higher education system, age of complexity, Law of Higher Education.

The Anthropocene has emerged in philosophy and social science as a geologic condition with radical consequence for humankind, and thus, for the social institutions that support it, such as higher education. This essay introduces the special issue by outlining some of the possibilities made available for social/philosophical research about higher education when the Anthropocene is taken seriously as an analytic tool. We provide a patchwork of discussions that attempt to sketch out different ways to consider the Anthropocene as both context and concept for the study of higher education. We conclude the essay with brief introductory remarks about the articles collected for this special issue dedicated to “The Anthropocene and Higher Education.”

Bill Kaplin and Barbara Lee let their readers know up front - on the book's cover in fact - that "A Legal Guide for Student Affairs Professionals" has been adapted from their highly regarded third edition of "The Law of Higher Education" [LHE3](1995) ("the big red book," as my students refer to it). The authors have included material already presented in LHE3 but have completely reorganized, updated, and edited the earlier work.

Public confidence and trust in higher education has declined (Johnson and Peifer 2017) and the future of the higher education sector has been questioned (AGB 2020). More specifically, the discipline of sociology is considered to be in “crisis” and applied sociological approaches are offered as a solution (Graizbord 2019; Weinstein 1997). The purpose of this introduction article as well as the broader special issue is to explore the nature and state of applied sociology in Canada. With a collection of seven articles authored by Canadian sociologists on topics including application research, reflections on process, and teaching practice, this special issue provides a platform to discuss and showcase the distinct nature and contributions of applied sociology in Canada as well as highlight the work of Canadian applied sociologists.
