The rheological properties of the compression process of sweet sorghum straw were studied. The selected experimental factors comprised of the compression density, cutting length, compression speed, and moisture content, and specific energy consumption were selected as the evaluation index of the compression characteristics. The Box-Behnken test scheme was used to analyze the response surface test. The results showed that the selected compression model and specific energy consumption model of the sweet sorghum straw compression process were obtained. The primary factors contributing to energy consumption were the cutting length, moisture content, and compression density. The optimal parameters were as follows: a compression density of 500 kg/m3, a cutting length of 20 mm to 30 mm, a moisture content of 60.06%, and a specific energy consumption of 66 kJ/kg. The results provided methods for reducing the total energy consumption of the compression process and a theoretical basis for the compression and bundling of sweet sorghum.

The objective of this study was to research the influence of the sweet sorghum straw fermented by the Compound Microbial Agent on the milk yield and milk composition of the cows. The results indicated that sweet sorghum straw bio-feed fermented by the Compound Microbial Agent in bags could increase the feed intake (11.4%) and milk yield(14.2%) compared with the control group, it also has improved milk protein (14.03%) and butterfat rate (16.3%) ,and has reduced the somatic cell's number(5.15%) compared with the control group. The sweet sorghum straw fermented by the Compound Microbial Agent has reduced the milk-feed ratio (20.8%).It has improved the feed digestibility and utilization and reduced the costing.

The objectives of this study was to determine the effect of feeding sweet sorghum on yield and composition of crossbred (HF x Deoni) cow milk. Nine lactating crossbred cows of about same body weight and production were divided into three groups and allotted to three dietary treatments as follows 0 : 100 (T1), 50 : 50 (T2) and 75 : 25 (T3) sweet sorghum : maize fodder among green fodder on dry matter basis. Except green fodder variation, animals of all treatments were offered ad libitum sorghum straw and concentrate mixture according to their level of production. Dry matter intake ranged from 9.66 to 10.08 kg/day. Milk yield ranged from 5.34 to 5.40 kg/day with non significant (P Lass Than 0.05) differences under all treatments. Concerning to the milk properties, T2 group shows highest fat content (4.76%), whereas, T1 and T3 at par. SNF, TS, Protein, Lactose, Ash, Acidity were in decreasing trend, while moisture was in increasing trend. T2 group shows lowest specific gravity than T1 and T3 group. 75 sweet sorghum green fodder and 25 per cent maize green fodder had produced the milk of same quality. Also, offered two types of forage to dairy cows had good response on fat content than offering one type of forage.

In this paper, the sweet sorghum straw by alkali pretreatment has been fermented to alcohol with synchronized hydrolysis and fermentation technology. According to the quadratic orthogonal rotating of four factors combination experimental design, the test studied the relationship between the nutrient additive amount about (NH4)2SO4, KH2PO4, MgSO4·7H2O, CaCl2 and alcohol yield, meanwhile this fermentation 1conditions were optimized. By analysis, these factors impacted alcohol yield and the mathematical equations has been established about four factors on the yield of alcohol. The results showed that a significant regression equation was obtained. The optimum conditions for alcohol yield are obtained, (NH4)2SO4 0.09 percent, KH2PO4 0.1 percent, MgSO4·7H2O 0.414 percent, CaCl2 0.385 percent, at this time alcohol yield is 13.07 percent (by weight).
