A concept for capturing and sequestering CO2 from a natural gas fired combined cycle power plant is presented. The present approach is to decarbonise the fuel prior to combustion by reforming natural gas, producing a hydrogen-rich fuel. The reforming process consists of an air-blown pressurised auto-thermal reformer that produces a gas containing H2, CO and a small fraction of CH4 as combustible components. The gas is then led through a water gas shift reactor, where the equilibrium of CO and H2O is shifted towards CO2 and H2. The CO2 is then captured from the resulting gas by chemical absorption. The gas turbine of this system is then fed with a fuel gas containing approximately 50% H2. In order to achieve acceptable level of fuel-to-electricity conversion efficiency, this kind of process is attractive because of the possibility of process integration between the combined cycle and the reforming process. A comparison is made between a “standard” combined cycle and the current process with CO2-removal. This study also comprise an investigation of using a lower pressure level in the reforming section than in the gas turbine combustor and the impact of reduced steam/carbon ratio in the main reformer. The impact on gas turbine operation because of massive air bleed and the use of a hydrogen rich fuel is discussed.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to emphasize the underlying mechanism through which firms can achieve supply chain agility and augment business performance from the vendor’s perspective. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on dynamic capability view and contingency theory, the study conceptualizes a moderated mediation model to investigate the underlying influence of process integration (PI), supply flexibility and product-related complexity on supply chain agility and the subsequent effect of supply chain agility on firm’s business performance. Survey data from a sample of 148 firms, in the garment manufacturing industry, in Pakistan were analyzed using partial least square methods. Findings The results revealed that supply flexibility (i.e. volume and mix) mediates the effect of PI on supply chain agility. Supply chain agility, in turn, influences a firm’s business performance. Furthermore, the competence‒capability framework is not consistent across the varying degrees of product complexity such as product complexity hinders the effect of supply flexibility on supply chain agility, whereas it amplifies the impact of PI on supply chain agility. The conditional indirect effects suggest that the indirect effect of PI on supply chain agility through supply flexibility becomes stronger when product complexity is high. Originality/value The study is novel in the context of an emerging economy to educate fashion vendors to tune their competencies and capabilities to regain the market share in the global market place.

We review the impact of control systems and strategies on the energy efficiency of chemical processes. We show that, in many ways, good control performance is a necessary but not sufficient condition for energy efficiency. The direct effect of process control on energy efficiency is manyfold: Reducing output variability allows for operating chemical plants closer to their limits, where the energy/economic optima typically lie. Further, good control enables novel, transient operating strategies, such as conversion smoothing and demand response. Indirectly, control systems are key to the implementation and operation of more energy-efficient plant designs, as dictated by the process integration and intensification paradigms. These conclusions are supported with references to numerous examples from the literature.

The purpose of this study is to confirm the research model related to the impact of supply chain management (SCM) integration on the operational performance based on the previous researches. These studies suggest that SCM integration plays a critical role in generating performance gains for firms. In the study, three constructs are extended, i.e. the information technology infrastructure integration, SCM process integration, and operational performance. A number of 146 large manufacturing companies in Indonesia were selected purposively as the samples. Questionnaires were distributed through email survey, while data were analyzed by structural equation modelling with Partial Least Square software to analyze the causal relationship among variables. The study found that information technology infrastructure integration does not influence significantly to supply chain process integration. Furthermore, supply chain process integration influences significantly to operational firm performance.

In the manufacturing industry, control of information and movement of material from suppliers at all levels is a critical matter.IT helps to manage all information among suppliers. Pervious research have shown that IT has indirect effects on business performance. Moreover, there are many discussions about the capabilities and mediate the relationship between IT and business performance such as supply chain performance and supply chain process integration. The integration of dissimilar supplementary resources can produce interaction that can cause better performance.

The integration of knowledge during the online classes influences the module tutors in the integration of technology in teaching with professional knowledge and belief which is focused on the learning enhancement of students. The study aims to identify issues in the online classes and to integrate knowledge in their learning enhancement. The research design employs both quantitative and qualitative research design because it is appropriate to investigate the integration knowledge of the online classes of students in their learning enhancement. It is suitable research choice in effective perform scientific research based on the characteristics and objectives available in support of the design in the study. Purposive sampling is utilised in the study because it is non-probable, which is subjective, selective, and judgmental. It is focused on the techniques utilise by the researchers. It assesses the impact of the study that deals on the attitude and behavior of students in the integration of knowledge during the online classes and learning enhancement. The subjects of the study are the selected private Higher Education Institution (HEI) students who are registered through online classes. The study comprised thirty (38) students. It is conducted for the spring 2019-2020.Results show that most of the issues in the integration of knowledge through online classes in the learning enhancement of students are the internet connection and internet devices which are weak that can affect the learning process because of the many Wi-Fi users which lead to weak network connection, issues in online classes have to do with technology and program of virtual learning particularly on Wi-Fi connection that can affect the students learning process, and destruction of learning of the respondents struggle in the adoption of the traditional classroom to online learning setting which is difficult for them adjust. Audio or voice destruction hinders them in their learning process, integration of knowledge has to do with the lack of clarity of voice, choppy, and sometimes cannot be heard, and learning enhancement has to do with the time schedule of the online which clashes with household chores like cooking, cleaning, and washing.

Article visualizations:
