ABSTRACTAlthough antibodies to the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) envelope glycoprotein have been studied extensively for their ability to block viral infectivity, little data are currently available on nonneutralizing functions of these antibodies, such as their ability to eliminate virus-infected cells by antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). HIV-1 Env-specific antibodies of diverse specificities, including potent broadly neutralizing and nonneutralizing antibodies, were therefore tested for ADCC against cells infected with a lab-adapted HIV-1 isolate (HIV-1NL4-3), a primary HIV-1 isolate (HIV-1JR-FL), and a simian-human immunodeficiency virus (SHIV) adapted for pathogenic infection of rhesus macaques (SHIVAD8-EO). In accordance with the sensitivity of these viruses to neutralization, HIV-1NL4-3-infected cells were considerably more sensitive to ADCC, both in terms of the number of antibodies and magnitude of responses, than cells infected with HIV-1JR-FLor SHIVAD8-EO. ADCC activity generally correlated with antibody binding to Env on the surfaces of virus-infected cells and with viral neutralization; however, neutralization was not always predictive of ADCC, as instances of ADCC in the absence of detectable neutralization, and vice versa, were observed. These results reveal incomplete overlap in the specificities of antibodies that mediate these antiviral activities and provide insights into the relationship between ADCC and neutralization important for the development of antibody-based vaccines and therapies for combating HIV-1 infection.IMPORTANCEThis study provides fundamental insights into the relationship between antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and virus neutralization that may help to guide the development of antibody-based vaccines and immunotherapies for the prevention and treatment of HIV-1 infection.

<div><em>Regarding the response to self-disclosure, a person needs to make an attribution in order to know whether the response is really an intention or just a diversion. The results of this study indicate that </em><em>People Living With HIV/Aids (</em><em>PLWHA</em><em>)</em><em> carry out quite strict regulations by conducting an assessment first before disclosing their </em><em>Human Immunodeficiency Virus (</em><em>HIV</em><em>)</em><em> status. The response obtained after they opened the status to the significant others was attributed by. The basis of sincere acceptance and response, the stability of the relationship between PLWHA and significant others after opening the status can be maintained, even stronger. PLWHA rely heavily on the power of spirituality to be able to build themselves better. In addition, the ability to make peace with oneself over their circumstances also influenced by this spirituality. Appreciation of spirituality also indicate that their engagement with God strengthened. This strength is shown by their awareness of the meaning of life.</em></div>

Kata Kunci: sifilis, HIV/AIDS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SYPHILIS AND HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV)/ ACQUIRED IMMUNODEFICIENCY SYNDROME(AIDS)                                                                 ABSTRACT Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection or STI and is caused by Treponema pallidum. According to reports Syphilis cases occur in populations of transvestites, male sex men or MSM, female sex workers or FSWs, and injecting drug users or IDUs. In Hospital X, there were 40 new cases of syphilis and 5 of them were accompanied by HIV infection. Research aims to determine the relationship of syphilis with HIV / AIDS. This study uses the literature review method. Literature sources used for the preparation of this journal involved 21 libraries originating from books, national journals, and international journals. The journals used in research are the most recent research in the search process in national and international journal databases. The year of publication of the journals and books used was 2006-2019. Several studies have shown the incidence of HIV / AIDS in syphilis patients and conversely the incidence of syphilis in HIV/ AIDS patients has a reciprocal relationship, ie syphilis can increase the incidence of HIV / AIDS infection and vice versa.  Keyword :syphilis, HIV/AIDS

This study evaluated correlation and agreement between version 3 of the Quantiplex human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) RNA assay (v3 branched DNA [bDNA]) and a sensitized Amplicor HIV-1 Monitor assay (reverse transcription [RT]-PCR) for the measurement of HIV RNA. Three hundred eighteen samples from 59 randomly selected, HIV-1-seropositive persons on various drug protocols from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases HIV outpatient clinic were studied. The results indicate that v3 bDNA and RT-PCR are highly correlated (r = 0.98) and are in good agreement (mean difference in log10 copies/ml ± 2 standard deviations = 0.072 ± 0.371). The relationship between values obtained by both assays is given by the following equation: log10v3 bDNA = −0.0915 + 1.0052 · log10RT-PCR. This represents a 1.026-fold difference between log10RT-PCR values and log10v3 bDNA values.
