Abstract In this study, we prepared Zn-MOFs as an ordinary, low-cost, and efficiency method taking advantage of zinc(ii) acetate monohydrate and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid in microwave-assisted ball milling. The Zn-MOFs were measured via scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetry. We explored its use as a photocatalyst for the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride and Congo red from aqueous solutions. The results demonstrate that the kinetic model was appropriate for the removal of organic pollutants. In general, it is feasible, inexpensive, and effective to use metal organic framework (MOF) to treat waste liquid. Therefore, our findings indicate that Zn-MOFs have broad application vista in wastewater purification.

The effect of the surface modification of carbon nanotubes on their dispersion in the epoxy matrix Functionalization of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) has an effect on the dispersion of MWCNT in the epoxy matrix. Samples based on two kinds of epoxy resin and different weight percentage of MWCNTs (functionalized and non-functionalized) were prepared. Epoxy/carbon nanotubes composites were prepared by different mixing methods (ultrasounds and a combination of ultrasounds and mechanical mixing). CNTs modified with different functional groups were investigated. Surfactants were used to lower the surface tension of the liquid, which enabled easier spreading and reducing the interfacial tension. Solvents were also used to reduce the liquid viscosity. Some of them facilitate homogeneous dispersion of nanotubes in the resin. The properties of epoxy/nanotubes composites strongly depend on a uniform distribution of carbon nanotubes in the epoxy matrix. The type of epoxy resin, solvent, surfactant and mixing method for homogeneous dispersion of CNTs in the epoxy matrix was evaluated. The effect of CNTs functionalization type on their dispersion in the epoxy resins was evaluated on the basis of viscosity and microstructure studies.

Three-dimensional slurry printing is a promising tool for making ceramic object but it limits in high dense ceramic powder because of poor suspension capacity. This study uses zirconia powder with an average diameter of 2 μm because its density is 5.67 g/cm3. A treatment protocol is proposed to improve the suspension capacity of zirconia powder including the ball milling, surface modification and resin blending. Experimental results show that adding 1% of isostearyl titanate, a coupling agent, for surface modification can enhance the lipophilicity of zirconia powder. Mixing surface modification powder in resin with a weight ratio of 7:3 and carrying on ball milling with 100 RPM for 6 hours can obtain the diameter of powder less than 400 nm. As a result, the zirconia slurry can obtain good suspension capacity which is over 48 hours.
