The aim of this study is to use the dry fibers of date palm as low-cost biosorbent for the removal of Cd(II), and Ni(II) ions from aqueous solution by fluidized bed column. The effects of many operating conditions such as superficial velocity, static bed height, and initial concentration on the removal efficiency of metal ions were investigated. FTIR analyses clarified that hydroxyl, amine and carboxyl groups could be very effective for bio-sorption of these heavy metal ions. SEM images showed that dry fibers of date palm have a high porosity and that metal ions can be trapped and sorbed into pores. The results show that a bed height of 6 cm, velocity of 1.1Umf and initial concentration for each heavy metal ions of 50 mg/L are most feasible and give high removal efficiency. The fluidized bed reactor was modeled using ideal plug flow and this model was solved numerically by utilizing the MATLAB software for fitting the measured breakthrough results. The breakthrough curves for metal ions gave the order of bio-sorption capacity as follow: Cd(II)]Ni(II).

Improved step-feed de-nitrification progress combined with biological fluidized bed was introduced in this study. The progress had good performance and capacity of de-nitrification and organic matter. The experiment result showed that the de-nitrification efficiency of the improved biological fluidized bed with step-feed process was higher than the fluidized bed A/O process under the same water quality and the operating conditions. When the influent proportion of each segment was equal, the system showed good nitrogen removal efficiency with the change of influent C/N ratio, HRT and sludge return ratio. The removal rate of TN reached up to 88.2%. It showed that the simultaneous nitrification and de-nitrification phenomenon happened in the aerobic zone. The nitrogen removal mechanism was also studied.

Particle size distributions, concentrations, morphological characteristics, and elemental compositions of eight fluidized bed boilers with different capacities and different dust collectors were determined experimentally. The PM2.5 particle concentration and mass concentration were monitored in real-time before and after the boiler dust collector by electric low pressure impactor, and the physical and chemical properties of PM2.5 were analyzed by membrane sampling. We found that the PM2.5 particle concentration produced by industrial fluidized bed boilers displayed bimodal distributions, peaking at 0.2 ?m and 0.76 ?m, the formed mechanism of these two parts particles is vaporization-condensation of mineral matter and residual ash particles and the adsorbent wear or tear. Mass concentration exhibits a single peak characteristic with a peak at 0.12 ?m. The removal efficiency for PM2.5 of dust collectors varies with different dust removal mechanisms. The electrostatic precipitator and bag filter have high dust removal efficiency, and the water film dust collector has low dust removal efficiency. The normal operation of the bag filter has a great influence on the dust removal efficiency. The physical and chemical properties of PM2.5 showed that the single-particle morphology was mainly composed of irregular particles, containing a small amount of solid spherical particles and more agglomerates. The content of Si and Al in PM2.5 elemental analysis is the highest, which decreases after a dust collector. Some fluidized bed boilers use desulfurization in the furnace, which has great influence on the mass concentration of Ca and S elements, and the lowest Hg content in trace elements, about a few ppm.

This article has been corrected. Low concentration synthetic and municipal wastewaters were treated at HRT as short as 3 and 0.6 h respectively in an anaerobic inverse fluidized bed. Both bioreactors showed gas hold up due to the liquid downflow pattern of the prototype. The bioreactor operated at 3 h had a removal efficiency of 83%, specific activity of 4.5 kg CODremoved/kg IVS (d and the gas hold up varied from 23 to 55%. The reactor treating municipal wastewater had a removal efficiency of 44% when operating at 0.6 h, the specific activity was 4.2 kg CODremoved/kg IVS (d and no biogas was detected apparently because an important fraction was dissolved in the liquid phase. The biomass concentration was 13.8 and 1.1 kg IVS/m3 for synthetic and municipal wastewater and the SEM microphotographs showed a bacterial diversity for the first run and only cocci cells for the second run. The system does not remove suspended solids, so a polishing postreatment to improve water quality has to be implemented.

This study is to explore the feasibility of the treatment of the MSG Fermentation wastewater by AFBBR (Anaerobic Biologial Fluidized Bed Reactor) Method, and intends to solve the serious pollution problem of MSG industry by the advantages of AFBBR Method. The results show that the wastewater BOD removal efficiency is very high due to this treatment. When the organic loading is below 14.0 kg-BOD/m3.day, the BOD removal efficiency can reach 90% or more. Since the wastewater contains the undissolvable difficult biodegradation organic matter, the COD removal efficiency only reaches 65% maximum. The methane content in biogas can achieve 80.8%. When the digestion temperature is 35°C, biogas production per kg is maximum 367.8 1. The treatment results indicate if the organic loading is in the range of 10.1-31.1 kg-COD/m3.d, and the operation condition is appropriate, we will get a very good digestion efficiency, i.e. the feasibility of this method for MSG Fermentation Wastewater Treatment is very high.
