Based on the geological conditions of 6# coal seam and 8# coal seam in Xieqiao Coal Mine, to determine reasonable entry layout of lower seam in multi-seam mining, alternate internal entry layout, alternate exterior entry layout and overlapping entry layout were put forward and simulated by FLAC3D. Then stress distribution and displacement characteristics of surrounding rock were analyzed in the three ways of entry layout, leading to the conclusion that alternate internal entry layout is a better choice for multi-seam mining, for which makes the entry located in stress reduce zone and reduces the influence of abutment pressure of upper coal seam mining to a certain extent,. And the mining practice of Xieqiao Coal Mine tested the results, which will offer a beneficial reference for entry layout with similar geological conditions in multi-seam mining.

Quang Ninh underground coal mines are currently in the phase of finishing up the mineralreserves located near the surface. Also, in this phase, a number of coal mines have opened and preparednew mine sites for the extraction of the reserves at greater depth. Several mines have mined at -350 mdepth and are driving opening excavations at -500 m depth below sea level. The mining at greater depthfaces many difficulties, such as a significant increase in support and excavation pressures. The longwallface pressure is mostly manifested in great magnitude that causes support overloaded and jumped andface spall/roof fall. This paper, based on the geological condition of the Seam 11 Ha Lam coal mine, uses the numerical program UDEC for studying the impact of mining depth on stress distribution aroundthe longwall face. The results show that the deeper the mining is, the greater the plastic deformationzone is. The peak front abutment stress moves closer to the coal wall, mainly concentrating on theimmediate roof and top coal. The top coal is greatly broken, and its bearing capacity is decreased. Somesolutions to the stability of roof strata are proposed, and a proper working resistance of support isdetermined. Additionally, the paper suggests that the starting depth for deep mining in Quang Ninhunderground coal mines should be -350 m below sea level.

Gas geological law in southwest of Shandong province was studied with theoretical foundation and method of gas geology in this paper. It finds that the area in southwest of Shandong province is mostly low gas mining area. But Fucun coal mine of Tengnan mining area, Sanhekou coal mine, Jinyuan coal mine, Tangkou coal mine of Jining mining area and Zhaoguan coal mine of Huanghebei mining area are all gas unusual area. Among them, Fucun coal mine, Sanhekou coal mine and Jinyuan coal mine appear high gas unusual which are mainly affected by magma intrusion, Tangkou and Zhaoguan coal mine form gas unusual area which are mainly affected by thickness of upper bedrock.

The prevenient mechanical research on U type steel support focuses on two dimensional analysis in the installing plan. Interested in the buckling failure of U type steel support’s pinnas in one coal mine of Huainan Group, the authors build three dimensional models to stimulating 25U and 29U support. The appealing simulation results verify ANSYS’s 3-D computational capabilities about complicated section support. The main objective of their investigation has been to obtain some knowledge of the mechanism, stress distribution, and load magnitude in the support’s deforming. Further, the deviating longitudinal load play an accelerating deformation role on its distorting, which should be paied more attention to cross-section optimization, design of support parameters, and installing way of steel lacing.

For the problem that the hard roof causes wider end-mining coal pillar, and the roadway is greatly affected by mining, this paper took Shanxi Luning Coal Mine as the engineering background; based on the stress distribution characteristics of the coal pillar, the calculation method of the limit end-mining coal pillar size was given; considering the formation conditions and transmission forms of the advanced abutment stress, a method combining presplitting and deep hole blasting was proposed to weaken the advanced abutment stress. The numerical simulation was used to analyze the stress distribution of coal pillars, which was verified by on-site industrial tests. The results showed that the presplitting can achieve the blocking of stress. The closer it is to the peak of the abutment stress, the better the blocking effect. Deep hole blasting can weaken the source of the advanced abutment stress and reduce the peak of abutment stress. With the combination of the two blasting methods, the end-mining coal pillar size of Luning Coal Mine can be reduced to 60 m. The method combining presplitting and deep hole blasting can effectively reduce the end-mining coal pillar size and reduce the impact of mining on the deformation of the dip roadway.

This paper presents a new method to identify the stress concentration degree and stress distribution characteristics in front of working face in coal mine, based on the close relationship between charge and stress during fracture of coal mass. This method overcomes many disadvantages of conventional stress-monitored methods. First, the stress and charge relationship of coal mass was established through damage theory and statistical strength theory. Then, the relationship between stress and charge was studied by a laboratory test, and finally, the field charge monitoring test was performed. The results show that there is a nonlinear relationship between loading stress (σ) and cumulative charge (Q), which can be represented by polynomials. The fitting results of the laboratory test between σ and Q conform to a cubic polynomial function, Q=aσ3+bσ2+cσ+d. It verifies the rationality of the theoretical relationship formula. The field monitoring results show that average charge is great and cumulative charge changes from rapid upward to sharp upward before roof falling. The magnitude and position of average charge and the upward trend of cumulative charge can be used to identify the stress concentration and stress distribution in front of working face, and the abnormal stress area can be predicted. The results can provide certain guidance for the forecast of rock burst in coal mine.
