In order to investigate the difference of current toughness index standards for fiber reinforced concrete, two main groups of specimens were made to take bending toughness test with the requirements of corresponded standards, loading methods and loading speeds, which are ASTM C1018 in America, ACI 544 and JSCE G552 in Japan. United with software Origin, the load-deflection curves gathered from bending test was calculated with relative standards. The results show that the calculated toughness index value with ASTM C1018-98 in America is more accurate with three grades but the requested deflection of testing is much longer than others while ACI 544 and JSCE G552 in Japan are quite the contrary.

For an infrastructure construction located in marine environments, maintaining good durability for the structures always imposes serious challenges, especially for the structure made of reinforced concrete. Concrete exposed to marine environment may deteriorate as a result of combined effects of both physical and chemical actions from marine environment. Corrosion of the reinforced steel bars that are embedded in the concrete is the most serious problem. Therefore, a method to protect the reinforced concrete in the marine environment from damages due to material deterioration and corrosion is proposed in this study. The method is through the application of bentonite material by utilizing its very finely divided form so that the larger capillary pores in concrete can be filled up. In this way, the impermeability of concrete material can be enhanced and then improve the corrosion resistant ability of the material.

A loading comparison experimental study on concrete circular columns confined by hybrid fiber sheets of carbon FRP sheet, basalt FRP sheet, and glass FRP sheet is carried out to analyze their failure feature, bearing capacity, ductility and economy. Test results show that HFRP can increase the ductility of column and deduce the price on the precondition of having enough bearing capacity.
