More than 124 million tons of oranges are consumed in the world annually. Transformation of orange fruit generates a huge quantity of waste, largely composed of peels. Some attempts to reuse by-products derived from citrus waste have been proposed for energy production, nutrient source or pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industries. However, their use in the building sector had not been researched. In this study, orange peels, in five different ratios, from 100% of wet peels to 75% and from 0% of dry peels to 25%, were submitted to a thermo-compression procedure. They were evaluated according to their physical (bulk density, water absorption, thickness swelling, surface soundness and thermal conductivity) and mechanical properties (bending strength and modulus of elasticity). The results showed that orange peels can be used as thermal insulation material. The addition of dried peels makes the structure of the board heterogeneous and thus increases its porosity and causes the loss of strength. Hence, the board with the sole use of wet peel, whose thermal conductivity is 0.065 W/mK while flexural strength is 0.09 MPa, is recommended.

Epoxy resin (EP) is one of the most famous thermoset materials. In general, because EP has a three-dimensional random network, it possesses thermal properties similar to those of a typical heat insulator. Recently, there has been substantial interest in controlling the network structure of EP to create new functionalities. Indeed, the modified EP, represented as liquid crystalline epoxy (LCE), is considered promising for producing novel functionalities, which cannot be obtained from conventional EPs, by replacing the random network structure with an oriented one. In this paper, we review the current progress in the field of LCEs and their application to highly thermally conductive composite materials.

For its light quality, good thermal conductivity, and excellent electricity shielding performance, Magnesium alloy has been used in industry, agricultural and so on, for rare earth elements can improve the mechanical performance of magnesium alloy, the study of powder metallurgy is influence by rare earth magnesium is few at present. so, in this paper, by mixing powder metallurgy method the Y89 element was added in Mg17Al12 magnesium alloy, the influence of Y89 on microstructure, hardness and compression performance of Mg17Al12 magnesium alloy was studied, The experimental results show that when amount of Y89’s addition, the mechanical performance is more then and when is 1.22%, its mechanical performance is best, hardness is 66.7 HV, compressive strength is 113.6 MPa,increased respectively by 19.7% and 29.3% compared the Mg17Al12 magnesium alloy substrate, and the grain refinement effect of Mg17Al12 magnesium alloy is the best at this time.
