Essential oil from Artemisia herba alba (Art) was hydrodistilled and tested as corrosion inhibitor of steel in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 using weight loss measurements and electrochemical polarization methods. Results gathered show that this natural oil reduced the corrosion rate by the cathodic action. Its inhibition efficiency attains the maximum (74%) at 1 g/L. The inhibition efficiency of Arm oil increases with the rise of temperature. The adsorption isotherm of natural product on the steel has been determined. A. herba alba essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation and its chemical composition oil was investigated by capillary GC and GC/MS. The major components were chrysanthenone (30.6%) and camphor (24.4%).

Conocarpus Erectus extract was examined as a green corrosion inhibitor for Al in 1 M HCl and evaluated by different methods (chemical & electrochemical methods). Surface checks were used to illustrate the importance of this green extract to Al's corrosion inhibition process. The inhibition efficiency (%IE) increased with the raising of both Conocarpus Erectus extract dose and temperature, indicating that this extract was adsorbed chemically on Al surface. The %IE was 91.1% when the concentration Conocarpus Erectus extract was 300 ppm. Conocarpus Erectus extract inhibits both anodic and cathodic reactions, so it is a mixed kind inhibitor. The %IE of Al occurs by the adsorption process, and this metal is subject to the adsorption, according to Temkin isotherm. The surface examination was detected by utilizing a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The outcome data obtained from all experimental studies are excellent and proved the effectiveness of Conocarpus Erectus extract for Al's corrosion resistance.

The extraction of linseed oil (LO) was realized by refluxing method. The extracted oil was identified by gas chromatography method coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). In order to contribute to the protection of the environment, one contemplates to try on LO as a green corrosion inhibitor. The corrosion inhibition of LO was studied by weight loss and electrochemical methods. The obtained results showed that the LO is an effective inhibitor of the carbon steel corrosion in 1[Formula: see text]M HCl solution, the inhibition efficiency increased with concentration to reach 88% at 200[Formula: see text]ppm. Furthermore, the adsorption of the inhibitor on the surface of metal in 1[Formula: see text]M HCl solution was found to obey Langmuir’s adsorption isotherm. The influences of temperature were also studied in the range from 298[Formula: see text]K to 328[Formula: see text]K. The kinetic and thermodynamic data of activation dissolution process were determined and discussed.

The aqueous extract of milk thistle (Silybum marianum) leaves as a green corrosion inhibitor for AA7051 aluminum alloy in sodium hydroxide solution was investigated at a range of temperatures. Potentiodynamic polarization findings exhibit a mixed–type inhibitor with directly increased inhibition efficiency with the concentration of inhibitor. The adsorption of the inhibitor on aluminum alloy obeys Langmuir isotherm and the kinetic as well as thermodynamic parameters were measured and discussed.

Utilization of ascorbic acid as corrosion inhibitor has several weaknesses. These weaknesses are easy to oxidize in solution form and reduction of its antioxidant properties due to heat, light, oxidizing agent, dissolve oxygen, and heavy metals. Purple sweet potato extract is an alternative green corrosion inhibitor with major contains of anthocyanin compound. Anthocyanin will withstand enzymatic reaction and oxidation process of ascorbic acid. Addition of purple sweet potato extract in ascorbic acid will enhance inhibition efficiency of steel compare to the used of ascorbic acid alone. Interaction of purple sweet potato extract with 0.01M ascorbic acid in 0.1M FeCl3environment was analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy. The result shows that interaction of purple sweet potato extract with ascorbic acid in 0.1M FeCl3build ability to form iron chelate.

The corrosion inhibition of 304 stainless steel in 1.0 M H2SO4 has been investigated in the presence of Henna leaves (Lawsonia Inermis) extract using weight loss measurement and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis. The study indicates that the corrosion inhibition efficiency increases with the increase in concentration of Henna leaves extract and decreases with increase in temperature. SEM analysis indicated the changes in metal surface morphology in the presence of inhibitor. The result obtained indicated that Henna leaves extract act as an efficient green corrosion inhibitor for 304 Stainless Steel.

This manuscript presents a study on a green corrosion inhibitor extracted from Elaeis guineensis (EG) leaves for mild steel (MS) exposed to acidic condition. Weight loss measurement was conducted at various temperatures to investigate the corrosion inhibitive behaviour of the aqueous extract in 1 M HCl solution. Results demonstrated that both inhibition efficiency (η%) and surface coverage (θ) had increased with increasing inhibitor concentration, but decreased with increasing temperature. After immersion for 72 h, the inhibition efficiency were between 60.48% at 319 K and 73.81% at 298 K. Adsorption of extract onto the MS surface was shown to obey Langmuir’s adsorption isotherm while the free energy value (𝝙Gads) indicated that the adsorption was characteristic of physisorption. Formation of a protective film onto the metal surface was substantiated by SEM and EDX analyses. The study demonstrated that EG leaves is a potential metal corrosion inhibitor in acidic condition.

In this research work, a new and green corrosion inhibitor based on new imidazole derivate (IMD) was introduced for carbon steel in 1 M HCl medium. Its inhibition properties were fully characterised by the gravimetric, electrochemical, surface and quantum chemical analyses. The experimental results confirmed that the inhibition efficiency of IMD was over 99% at 150 mg/L, forming a protective hydrophobic film on the metal surface, which maximally blocked the cathodic and anodic corrosive processes by adsorption. The electrochemical results suggested that the IMD is a mixed-type inhibitor. The adsorption behaviour of IMD was obeyed by Langmuir isotherms. The gravimetric results show that the inhibition efficiency depends on the change of concentration and temperature. The experimental tests were supported by the DFT (density functional theory) measurements, and a good relationship was found among these tests. The observed results of the surface analysis indicated that the metal surface was seriously improved with the presence of IMD.
