Previous studies have proved that Larix kaempferi is a good material for preparing cross-laminated timber (CLT), but under bending shear stress, CLT made by Larix kaempferi is prone to the phenomenon of bonding face cracking, which seriously affects the shear performance of CLT. To solve this problem, this paper took Larix kaempferi as raw material, conducted experiments on the surface sanding conditions, gluing pressure and adhesive types of sawing timber, and explored the influence of these three factors on the bonding quality of CLT. The microscopic characteristics of the bonding layer were further studied. The results showed that for Larix kaempferi with a density of 0.68 g/cm3 used in this experiment, a high bonding pressure is required. Among the three cold curing adhesives selected in the experiment, emulsion polymer isocyanate (EPI) adhesive needs 1.5 MPa bonding pressure to ensure the bonding quality, while for polyurethane (PUR) and phenol resorcinol formaldehyde (PRF), 1.2 MPa can meet the need of adhesive pressure. This is concerned with the permeability of different adhesives under different pressures. The microscopic results of the bonding layer show that EPI adhesives have poor permeability, so it requires high bonding pressure. The influence of sanding surface of different sand-belt on block shear strength (BSS) and wood failure percentage (WFP) is not obvious, while the durability of bonding layer is better when sanding mesh number is 100. Hence, a high pressure should be used for CLT industrial production when the laminate density is higher, especially when the adhesive has poor permeability. Reasonable sanding surface treatment can be used in laminate surface treatment to improve the durability of CLT.

The most advanced macromolecular materials are found in plants and animals, and certainly the connective tissues in mammals are amongst the most advanced macromolecular composites known to mankind. The efficient use of collagen, a fibrous protein, in the design of both soft and hard connective tissues is worthy of comment. Very crudely, in bone collagen serves as a highly efficient binder for the inorganic hydroxyappatite which stiffens the structure. The interactions between the organic fiber of collagen and the inorganic material seem to occur at the nano (scale) level of organization. Epitatic crystallization of the inorganic phase on the fibers has been reported to give a highly anisotropic, stress responsive, structure. Soft connective tissues also have sophisticated oriented hierarchical structures. The collagen fibers are “glued” together by a highly hydrated gel-like proteoglycan matrix. One of the simplest structures of this type is tendon which functions primarily in uniaxial tension as a reinforced elastomeric cable between muscle and bone.

Abstract The effective elastic properties of the cord-rubber composite are deduced from the principle of virtual work. Such a composite must be compliant in the noncord directions and therefore undergo large deformations. The Rivlin-Mooney equation is used to derive the effective Poisson's ratio and Young's modulus of the composite and as a basis for their measurement in uniaxial tension.

Background: Agriculture is one of the most essential industry that fullfills people’s need and also plays an important role in economic evolution of the nation. However, there is a gap between the agriculture sector and the technological industry and the agriculture plants are mostly affected by diseases, such as the bacterial, fungus and viral diseases that lead to loss in crop yield. The affected parts of the plants need to be identified at the beginning stage to eliminate the huge loss in productivity. Methods: In the present scenario, crop cultivation system depend on the farmers experience and the man power, but it consumes more time and increases error rate. To overcome this issue, the proposed system introduces the Double Line Clustering technique based disease identification system using the image processing and data mining methods. The introduced method analyze the Anthracnose, blight disease in grapes, tomato and cucumber. The leaf images are captured and the noise has been removed by non-local median filter and the segmentation is done by double line clustering method. The segmented part compared with diseased leaf using pattern matching algorithm. This paper studies the shear performance of the connection with the external stiffening ring between the square steel tubular column and unequal-depth steel beams. Two specimens of interior column connections were tested under low cyclic loading. The deformation characteristics and failure modes exhibited by the test phenomena can be summarized as: (1) two specimens all exhibited shear deformation in steel tube web of the panel zone and (2) weld fracture in the panel zone and plastic hinge failure at beam end were observed. Besides, load-displacement behaviors and strain distributions have been also discussed. The nonlinear finite element models were developed to verify the test results. Comparative analyses of the bearing capacity, failure mode, and load-paths between the equal-depth and unequal-depth beam models have been carried out.
